Mrs. Hendren was born November 8, 1898, in New Orleans, LA, to Elizabeth and William McLeod. Because of her academic achievement in high school, she graduated at age 16. An accomplished pianist, she gave many individual recitals. Her musical interests were broad and at one time she accompanied the popular jazz group, "Six and Seven Eights."
