     Joseph McDowell was born on 16 April 1830 at Boyle Co., KY.¹ He was the son of Capt. Samuel Irvine McDowell and Martha Hawkins.¹

     Col. Joseph McDowell was born on 13 September 1768 at Rockbridge Co., VA. He was the son of Samuel McDowell and Mary Annette McClung. Col. Joseph McDowell married Sarah Irvine, daughter of Abram Irvine and Mary Dean, on 27 September 1794 at Mercer Co., KY. Occupation: Farmer in 1850 at Danville, Boyle Co., KY. Col. Joseph McDowell died on 27 June 1856 at Danville, Broyle Co., KY, at age 87.

     Col. Joseph McDowell was born in 1756. He married Margaret Moffit, daughter of George Moffit and Sarah McDowell. Col. Joseph McDowell died in 1801 at Burke Co., NC.

     Note: Originally from North Carolina. Major Joseph McDowell married Mary Moffit, daughter of George Moffit and Sarah McDowell, on 27 April 1786 at Augusta Co., VA.

     Joseph J. McDowell was born on 13 November 1800. He was the son of Col. Joseph McDowell and Margaret Moffit.

     Note: Outspoken member of Know-Nothing Party. Founded Kemper College Medical Department, which became the Medical Department of the University of Missouri in 1846, earliest predecessor to Washington University School of Medicine.² Dr. Joseph Nash McDowell was born on 1 April 1805 at Fayette Co., KY.³ He was the son of Maj. John McDowell and Lucy Nash Legrand. Dr. Joseph Nash McDowell married Elizabeth Drake. Dr. Joseph Nash McDowell lived in 1850 at St. Louis, MO. He died on 18 September 1868 at St. Louis, MO, at age 63.

     Katherine McDowell was the daughter of Ephraim McDowell and Sarah Hart Shelby.

     Kendall Morrow McDowell was born on 15 August 1956 at Arnold, Custer Co., NE. He was the son of Okie Kenneth McDowell and Letha Mae Morrow. Kendall Morrow McDowell died on 28 January 2009 at Arnold, Custer Co., NE, at age 52 Obituary (via Findagrave.com):

Kendall Morrow McDowell, 52, of Arnold, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009. He was born Aug. 15, 1956, in Arnold to Kenneth and Letha Mae Morrow McDowell. He attended Arnold Public Schools, graduating in 1974. He was united in marriage to Margie Lemon of North Platte on Sept. 12, 1981.

From childhood on, his passion and businesses were related to heavy equipment and trucking. He helped his father with gravel pumping and trucking while in grade school and then moved on to be a driver and construction worker for Hagler Trucking. He was employed by Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte from 1976 to 1981, traveling around the country building tracks. Following that, he worked as an equipment operator in the construction of the Calamus Canal. He moved his young family to California in 1986 to aid in the construction of housing tracts. The love of his hometown brought the family back to Arnold in 1990.

That same year, he and Margie established their own company, Loup Valley Construction. Son Scott and daughter Kendra played a significant role in the company growth, and in 2004 son Scott joined the company. Throughout the years, Loup Valley Construction became more diversified in the construction field to suit customers' needs.

Kendall always enjoyed being around family and friends. It was a rare occurrence to catch him without a smile or something to chat about. He always enjoyed working on a piece of equipment on Sundays, while friends stopped by to reminisce. He was an avid supporter of his children's athletic and school activities, rarely missing an event. That same enthusiasm carried through to camping and boating with his children in later years.

Survivors include, his wife, Margie; children, Eric Nelson and his son, Brenden, Scott McDowell and Kendra McDowell; mother-in-law, Margie Lemon; sisters-in-law, Carol (Jim) Homolka and family, Linda (Darrell) Fisher and family, Patty (Bill) Burrows and family; brother-in-law, Bob (Dawn) Lemon and family; step-brothers, Bob Prendergast and family, Bill Prendergast and family and Pat (Janie) Prendergast and family; cousins, Jane (Rich) McDowell Hornung and family and Sandra (Roger) McDowell Stockall and family; and aunt Katie Morrow.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Letha Mae McDowell; step-father Robert Prendergast of Arnold; step-sister Barb Prendergast; father-in-law, Earl Lemon; and uncles, Robert McDowell and Jim Morrow.

Memorials are suggested to the Kendall McDowell Memorial Fund.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at the Arnold High School auditorium with the Revs. Ben Eickhoff and Eric Purcell officiating. Interment will be at the Arnold Cemetery in Arnold.

     Laura Belle McDowell was born on 24 December 1867 at Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of Jacob McDowell and Sarah Jane Cassell.¹ Laura Belle McDowell married Louis M. Riggsby on 30 October 1888. Laura Belle McDowell died on 30 June 1953 at Boyd Co., KY, at age 85.

     Laura D. McDowell was born circa October 1909 at Elliott or Greenup Co., KY.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph McDowell and Nancy Jane Holbrook.¹

     Leonard McDowell was born on 2 August 1889 at Elliott Co. (probably), KY. He was the son of Jacob McDowell and Sarah Jane Cassell.

     Lewis McDowell was born circa 1829 at Lawrence Co. (probably), KY.¹ He was the son of William McDowell and Susanna Skaggs.¹

     Lila Mae McDowell was born on 16 November 1928 at Lakewood, Cuyahoga Co., OH. She was the daughter of William Alfred McDowell and Alice Cecelia Trotter. Lila Mae McDowell died on 3 June 2017 at Nashville, Davidson Co., TN, at age 88

Lila McDowell Wendell was born November 16, 1928 in Solon, Ohio and passed away June 3, 2017 in Nashville Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by parents William and Alice McDowell and sister Willice Jean McDowell.

She is survived by children Lindy Wendell Gupton Reece (Bo), Daniel Wendell (Patricia), Andrew Wendell and Beth Wendell Cosgrove (Dave); grandchildren, Kelly Gupton (Susan), Matt Gupton (Joanna), Austin Wendell (Suzanne), A.J. Wendell, Rachel Wendell Suitt (Wes), Patrick Cosgrove and Daniel Cosgrove; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Lucas Gupton, Breanna Hampton, and Mary Ella and Emmaline Wendell.

Lila graduated from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. She and her family moved from Chillicothe, Ohio to Nashville in 1963.

Lila was an avid supporter of the Vanderbilt Women's Tennis program and actively played until the age of 82. She was a longtime volunteer at Cheekwood Botanical Garden. Her life was also enriched by her friends and through her many interests including bridge club, gourmet group, travel and swim class. She was also a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Visitation with the family will be in Massey Hall at Cheekwood from 10-12pm on Monday, June 19, 2017 with the Memorial service beginning at 12 noon.

     Lilly B. McDowell was born in April 1890 at Elliott Co. (probably), KY.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph McDowell and Nancy Jane Holbrook.¹

     Logan McDowell was born on 24 May 1924 at Central Lake, Antrim Co., MI.¹ He was the son of John A. Logan McDowell and Sarah Ellen Oliver. Logan McDowell died on 14 March 1996 at Traverse City, Traverse Co., MI, at age 71.

     Lucinda McDowell was born on 15 March 1789 at Virginia. She was the daughter of Judge William McDowell and Margaretta Madison. Lucinda McDowell married Dennis Brashear on 14 August 1808 at Mercer Co., KY. Lucinda McDowell died in 1850. She was buried in 1850 at Green Lawn Cemetery, Lot P, Columbus, Franklin Co., OH.

     Lucy McDowell was the daughter of Col. Joseph McDowell and Sarah Irvine.

     Lucy McDowell was the daughter of Samuel McDowell. Lucy McDowell married Alexander Keith Marshall, son of Col. Thomas Marshall and Mary Randoph Keith.

     Lucy F. McDowell was the daughter of Col. John Adair McDowell and Geraldine Cowles.

     Lucy Nash McDowell was born. She was the daughter of Maj. John McDowell and Lucy Nash Legrand. Lucy Nash McDowell married Judge David Meade Woodson in October 1831 at Lexington, Fayette Co., KY.

     Lyne Starling McDowell was born in 1812. He was the son of Maj. John Adair McDowell and Lucy Todd Starling. Lyne Starling McDowell died in 1814.

     Note: Died without issue. Magdalen Reid McDowell was born on 4 March 1797. She was the daughter of Samuel McDowell and Anna Irvine. Magdalen Reid McDowell died in 1822.

     Magdalene McDowell was born on 29 October 1755 at Rockbridge Co., VA. She was the daughter of Samuel McDowell and Mary Annette McClung. Magdalene McDowell married Gen. Andrew Franklin Reid. Magdalene McDowell was buried in 1838 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Lexington, VA, Findagrave #40433253. She died in 1838 at Rockbridge Co., VA.

     Magdalene McDowell was the daughter of Col. Joseph McDowell and Sarah Irvine.

     Malcolm McDowell was the son of Maj. Gen. Irvin McDowell. Malcolm McDowell lived at Chicago, Cook Co., IL.

     Malcom H. McDowell was the son of Col. John Adair McDowell and Geraldine Cowles.

     Margaret McDowell was born in 1716 at Raloo Parish, County Antrim, Ireland. She was the daughter of Ephraim McDowell and Margaret Irvine. Margaret McDowell died in 1796 at Essex Co., VA.

     Margaret McDowell married Allen Trimble. Margaret McDowell was born in 1787. She was the daughter of Col. Joseph McDowell and Margaret Moffit. Margaret McDowell died in March 1809.

     Margaret Irvine McDowell was born in 1810. She was the daughter of Col. Joseph McDowell and Sarah Irvine. Margaret Irvine McDowell married Joseph Sullivant, son of Lucas Sullivant and Sarah Starling, on 17 June 1830 at Columbus, Franklin Co., OH. Margaret Irvine McDowell died on 1 June 1831 at Columbus, Franklin Co., OH.

     Martha McDowell was born on 20 June 1766. She was the daughter of Samuel McDowell and Mary Annette McClung.
