     Martha Jane Mechling was born on 29 July 1857 at Hopewell Twp., Perry Co., OH. She was the daughter of Sheppard Mechling and Lydia Boyer. Martha Jane Mechling married Henry Mathis Saum, son of John Jefferson Saum and Sarah Armstrong, on 24 November 1901 at Perry Co., OH. Martha Jane Mechling was buried at Drumm Lutheran Church Cemetery, Thornville, Fairfield Co., OH.

PRINCEVILLE -- Arnel E. "Zeke" Medearis, 66, of Princeville died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Born June 22, 1934, in Wyoming, Ill., to Arnel and Irma Smith Medearis, he married Earline Wisenburg on Sept. 5, 1953, in Sparland. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Pam (and Tim) Snyder of Princeville and Betty Jo (and Denny) Broadway of Edelstein; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean (and Everett) Schaefer of Chillicothe and Lucille (and Arlin) Shofner of Henry; three brothers, Russ (and Linda) of Sparland, Charles (and Marilyn) and Lawrence (and Mary), both of Henry; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother.

He worked for Long Rock Stone Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1983. Prior to that, he worked for the Illinois Highway Department for several years. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.

He was of the Presbyterian faith.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hammitt Hott Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry Losey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.

     Jane Medley was also known as "Jennie". She was born in February 1860 at Missouri Janes's parents were difficult to identify. Collaborating with Tracy DeVault, we found that Sarah Medley "cousin" and listed in the 1880 census living in the Jesse Paul Medley family, next door to the Samuel Harvey DaVault family, had a sister Jane, born about 1860. Tracy researched the ancestry of Jesse P. Medley and found the grandparents, James A. Medley (1760 - 1849) and Sarah E. Smith. They had a son Jesse, brother of Jesse P. Medley's father Robert Medley, and that Jesse was the father of Jane Medley and her sister Sarah. MRS. RICHARD SORRELL DIES NEAR RED BIRD

Mrs. Nellie Sorrell (nee Medley), wife of Richard Sorrell died Nov. 21 near Red Bird, a the age of 70 years. Leaves besides her husband one daughter, Mrs. Clara Rhodes, 2 grand children and I great-grandchild; 1 sister, Mrs. Jane Devault of Pratt, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Sorrell had been married 53 years. Mrs. Sorrell united with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in her girl hood days and lived most of her life in and near Red Bird. She will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held November 23 at the Red Bird Church and burial in Bowen Cemetery. Services by Brother Creth Mitchem.

     Vinnie Elnora Medlock was born on 1 March 1874. She was the daughter of Elijah Isaac Medlock and Mary Amanda Cauble.      Vinnie Elnora Medlock, oldest daughter of Elijah and Amanda Medlock was born March 15, 1874 and died August 26, 1925 aged 51 years, 5 months and 11 days.
     She was married to Milburn Dawalt August 16, 1899 and is survived by husband, two children, Mrs. Helen Neely of Salem, Ind., John Lawrence at home, one grandson, Robert Neely, also her father, mother, one sister Mrs. Vira Retherford near Harristown, five brothers, Willard, John and Charles of Goodland, Ind., Clarence of Pittsburg, Pa; Raymond of Clinton, Ind., and other relatives.
     She joined the United Brethren church at Harristown June 1896 and was an active worker in the Sunday and Christian Endeavor work at one time here.
     She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, a kind neighbor. Her happy disposition, her devotion to home and friends will be greatly missed by all.

     Letitia Ann Meeds was born on 30 August 1874 at Bellville, Republic Co., KS. She married Benjamin Franklin Keith, son of John Francis Keith and Martha Jane Forrest, on 29 January 1891 at Walnut Hill, Frontier Co., NE. Letitia Ann Meeds died on 25 September 1956 at Narka, Republic Co., KS, at age 82.

     Note: Lloyd Meeds' ancestry goes back to the Tyndels of England, who were pioneer settlers in colonial New Jersey. Lloyd T. Meeds was born on 3 May 1906 at Missouri. He married Otho Inez Collom, daughter of Joseph T. Collom and Lillie Etta Gillmore, on 15 September 1928. Lloyd T. Meeds lived in April 1940 at Arlington, Fairfax Co., VA. He died on 27 April 1993 at age 86.

     Bernard John Meehan was born circa 1878 at Nebraska. He married Theodosia Bryant, daughter of James Robert Bryant and Nancy Ellen Windle, circa 1908.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
