Louise Rodgers, 107, died on November 26, 1993 in the Wesley Glen Retirement Center in Columbus, Ohio. Miss Rodgers was born on July 26, 1886 in New Carlisle, the daughter of George G. and Sarah (Bacon) Rodgers. Her family moved to Springfield when she was a year old. She is was the last living member of her immediate family.
In the 1920's she worked at The Book Shop in downtown Springfield on East High Street for ten years. Miss Rodgers retired from Wrens Balcony Bookstore in 1952 after serving as the manager for twelve years.
Miss Rodgers was a member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church and of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by two close friends, Thelma Lester of Springfield and Barbara and Dr. Michael Williams of Ashland, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Alice Rodgers Muzzy.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Ferncliff Cemetery with the Dr. Michael Williams officiating. The family is being served by the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home.

Mrs. Karen Miller was vocalist with Mrs. E. Boone Schlanker as organist.
Interment was in the Montgomery City Cemetery with the following as pallbearers: Don Truitt, Harold Landrum, John Franklin Miller, Burt Miller, John Harness and Wendell Bishop.
The Schlanker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He died Friday at St. Luke's Hospital West in St. Louis County following an extended illness.
Mr. Rodgers was born Sept. 11, 1912, near Montgomery City, where he spent his entire life. He is the son of Thomas Powell and Jennie Smith Rodgers. On Aug. 18, 1940, he married the former Betty Marie Rhoads who survives at home.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Anne Bernat; two grandchildren, Christina Ann and Eric Wayne Bernat; and one son-in-law, Otto L. Bernat all of Montgomery City.
Mr. Rodgers was an agent for the Columbia Mutual Insurance Co. and a retired farmer. he was the director of the First National Mercantile Bank at Montgomery City and currently was serving as its vice-president.
Mr. Rodgers was a member of the Montgomery City United Methodist Presbyterian Church and was active in the Montgomery City Lions Club.


He was buried in September 1978 at Montgomery City Cemetery, Montgomery City, Montgomery Co., MO.

MRS. OLIVE R. WENDELL, 76, of 111 Sunrise Terrace, New Carlisle, died Monday in Belle Manor Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, in July, 1968. She was a member of the Honey Creek United Presbyterian Church and the Seniors Citizens Club, both of New Carlisle. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Olive) Boyd, Bristol, Virginia; a son, Earl Wade (Bud) Wendell, Nashville, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Trostel-Chapman Funeral Home, New Carlisle, with the Rev. Joseph Quinn officiating, and burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. She was buried in 1982 at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin Co., OH, Find A Grave Memorial# 47993918.
Note: When Grandma Wendell came to visit, she kind of took over the house. I remember that she would whip out a kleenex at the first sight of a grubby kid's face, and proceed to scrub right down to the dermis if that's what it took to get us clean (which it probably did!).      Note: Studied medicine with Dr. Rankin of Shippensburg. After graduating, practiced 1828 - 29 at New Hope, Bucks Co., PA then relocated to Cumberland Co. and was associated with Dr. Geddes at Newville. In 1832 accepted a partnership with Dr. G. S. B. Hempstead at Portsmouth, Scioto Co., OH and remained there until 1833 when he returned to Pennsylvania and married. In 1833 he relocated to Springfield, OH. Was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church. Joined newly formed Second Presbyterian Church as trustee and deacon. Retired from medicine in 1870. In 1875 a slight paralysis was the beginning stage of a progressive disease that resulted in his death.

Robert Cochran Rodgers was graduated; Wittenberg College and Princeton University. Occupation: Admitted to the Ohio Bar, Columbus, 5 June 1877 on 5 June 1877. He married Emma N. White, daughter of Judge William White and Rachel Stout, on 30 December 1879. Robert C. Rodgers Succumbs After Illness of Two Days
Robert C. Rodgers, 67, one of the city's highly respected citizens, prominent attorney and churchman, died Saturday morning at 6 o'clock at his home 211 North Limestone street. His death was due to heart trouble induced by abdominal obstruction. He had been ill only since Thursday. Up until that time he had been in his usual good health.
He was a man universally liked and was connected with one of the city's oldest families. Mr. Rodgers possessed a kind and genial disposition and ever placed his time at the disposal of his friends, when he could lend them a helping hand.
He was born in Knox county, Pennsylvania, and when five years of age, came to this city with his parents. In Springfield he enjoyed the educational advantages offered, attending private schools and Wittenberg college. His father, Rev. James L. Rodgers, will be remembered as a well known pastor and educator.
Upon completion of his studies at Wittenberg college, he went to Princeton university, becoming a member of the class of 1875. He left college in his junior year and returned to Springfield in order to enter upon the study of law. This completed, he was admitted to the bar in 1877. Since that time he had been in continuous practice. At the time of his death, he occupied a place of prominence in his profession throughout Clark county.
Mr. Rodgers was married to Miss Emma White in 1879. She is the daughter of the late Judge William White. The wife, and two sons, William W. Rodgers, now in business in Buenos Aires, South America, and James Linn Rodgers, formerly of the United States navy, and now in business in New York city, survive him.
Mr. Rodgers was a member of the former Second Presbyterian church and retained his membership when that church merged with the First Presbyterian church, becoming the Covenant church. He also belonged to the Clark County Bar association.

He was buried in May 1920 at Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield, Clark Co., OH, Find A Grave Memorial# 35718462.
