Funeral services for George M. Pickett, Jr. 66, East Moline, are 12 Noon on Monday, May 16th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 2-6PM Sunday at funeral home. George died Monday May 9, 2011 surrounded by his family and friends. A memorial fund has been established.

George was born November 19, 1944 in Rock Island, the son of George and Sarah (Fjelland) Pickett Sr. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1962, and graduated from Black Hawk College where he received his Associates in Law Enforcement. He worked for the Rock Island Police Dept. until 1980, when he began doing insurance investigation and later started his own private investigation business. In the 1990's he went to work at for the Rock Island County Sheriff's Dept until he retired in 2010. He enjoyed fishing, camping and golf. George had played fast pitch softball for many years. He was an avid Notre Dame and a New York Yankee Fan.

Survivors include the love of his life, Margaret "Peggy" Roffman, East Moline, his children and their spouses: Jill and Lonnie Hostens, Moline, Jody and Mike Moneymaker, Moline, Jeff and Amanda Pickett, Rock, Island, Robert Pickett, Osco, IL and Ellen Pickett, Osco, grandchildren; Nick, Allisyn (James), Brianna, Hunter, and Trevor, great-grandchildren; Jenna and Lydia, a sister Virginia Bladel, Texas, and a brother Robert "Bob" (Linda) Pickett, Rock Island.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother John "Johnny" Pickett.

He was buried in May 2011 at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island, Rock Island Co., IL, Findagrave #71962249.

J. Doris Gosnell, 63, died Monday at her Howard County home. She was the daughter of Nellie W. Pickett of Woodbine and the late James E. Pickett. Married twice, she was the wife of the late Lawrence E. Pickett. She is survived by her second husband, William H. Gosnell. She was a licensed practical nurse at Montgomery General Hospital. In addition to her husband, survivors include son, Larry W. Pickett of Mount Airy; daughters Linda L. Reed of Sykesville, Gail A. Carroll and Debra A. Grimes, both of Mount Airy; brother, J. Mrs. J. Doris Gosnell, 63, of Ellicott City, died Monday, March 11, at her home.

Born Aug 18, 1927, in Carroll County, she was a daughter of Nellie Walker Pickett of Woodbine and the late James E. Pickett.

Mrs. Gosnell was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence E. Pickett, in December 1974. She is survived by her second husband, William H. Gosnell of Ellicott City.

Mrs. Gosnell was a licensed practical nurse at Montgomery General Hospital for 18 years and worked at several nursing homes.

Surviving besides her mother and husband are one son, Larry W. Pickett of Mount Airy; three daughters, Linda L. Reed of Sykesville, Gail A. Carroll and Debra A. Grimes, both of Mount Airy; one brother, J. Ellsworth Pickett of Woodbine; two sisters, Nancy L Hand of Frederick; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the Burrier Funeral Home, 1212 w. Old Liberty Road, Winfield. Funeral services will be held at 12:15 P.M. Thursday, March 14, at the funeral home. The Rev. Suzanne M. Weber pastor of Morgan Chapel United Methodist Church, Woodbine, will officiate. Interment will be in Lakview Memorial Gardens, Eldersburg.

Frederick Franklin Piehl, age 94, passed away at his home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on July 18, 2011.
He was born on March 9, 1917 to Emil F. and Ada (Harris) Piehl in Medford, Wisconsin.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Pentecostal Assembly Church, 9 9th Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54703. Pastor Paul Bennett will officiate. Burial will immediately follow services in Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington.
Visitation will be at the Church today from 5 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday morning at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
Fred was a logger, ice delivery man, milk man and meat cutter. He then established his own business, Fred Piehl Landscaping, from which he retired in 1979. Retirement included he and his wife building log homes, moves to Lander, WY, Buffalo, WY, and moving back to Wisconsin in 1997.
From his first marriage he was blessed with three children, Jeannette Marie, Judith Ann, and James Frederick.
On April 19, 1968, Fred married Audrey (Jacks) Wendell in Columbus, Ohio. Fred embraced her two daughters, Elaine Joy and Lynette Faith.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey; son, James (Diana); and daughter, Lynette (Michael) Ackerman. Grandchildren, Keith Griffen, Lisa Keding (U.S. Navy), Kris Garborg, Tanya (Wade) Frederick, Rachel Piehl, Mandy Boos, Ryan Boos, Jason (Karena) Whitaker, Bethany (John) Murphy, Mike Ackerman and Carey (Chad) Misura; along with great-grandchildren; brother-in-law; sister-in-law; cousins; nieces; nephews and friends; too many to enumerate.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Zella Dean, Marie Piehl, Ruth Wedlund; brothers, Martin and Edwin Piehl; daughters, Jeannette, Judith and Elaine; grandson, Darren Griffen; and great-granddaughter, Eliana Joy Murphy.
Serving and living for the Lord was foremost in Fred's life. He deeply appreciated the western mountains, gardening, hunting, horses and especially enjoying his family. Services will be held at Fred's home church, Pentecostal Assembly.
The family would like to thank their pastor, church family and friends for their faithful prayers as well as the Mayo Health System and hospice home health care staff for their compassionate care and ministry to Fred.
