     Joseph Labon Moore was born on 7 February 1887 at Rockville, Parke Co., IN, WW I draft registration.¹ He was the son of Thomas Kendall Moore and Emily Josephine Jarvis.¹ Joseph Labon Moore married Jessie Charlene Smith, daughter of Charles Ambrose Smith and Dessie Dell Irey, on 26 July 1912 at Indiana, license date. Joseph L. Moore, 77, well-known Muncie barber, died Saturday afternoon at Ball Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Parke County, he had lived most of his life in Muncie. Mr. Moore had been a barber here more than 52 years.

He was a member of the Main Street Methodist Church, and Delaware Lodge 46, F&AM.

Mr. Moore is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Philip Mier and Mrs. Leonard Pittenger, both of Muncie, and Mrs. William R. McPeek, Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Frank, Muncie, and William H., Indianapolis; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Meeks Mortuary with Rev. James Lantz officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and prior to services Monday.

Clarke and Anne E. MARION SLACK RITES HELD

Funeral services were held Saturday for Marion Lee Slack, associated with the Sawdust Theater as a founder and a leader in and member of several community groups.

Mrs. Slack died March 9 in Portland. She was 51.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, a member and former president of the Coos Art Museum, member of the Friends of the Library and the Coquille Women's Club.

In 1978, Mrs. Slack received a Friend of Education award from the Coquille Education Association.

In addition to being a founder of the Sawdust Theater, she participated as an actress and set designer.

Her family moved to Coquille in 1941 and she had been a resident of Coquille ever since. Mrs. Slack attended the University of Oregon from 1948 until 1952 and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.

She and Harry Slack, Jr. were married at Coquille on Aug. 2, 1953.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ada Lee Moore in 1966 and her father, John A. Moore, in 1971.

Surviving are her husband, Harry Slack, Jr., two daughters, Helen Lee Slack of Eugene and Caroline Slack of Coquille; a son, Joseph Allen Slack, of Eugene, and a brother, Wallace Lee Moore, Concord, Calif.

Father George Mackey of St. James Episcopal Church officiated at funeral services at St. James. Interment was at Masonic Cemetery in Coquille.

     Martha Ellen Moore was born on 25 January 1916 at Muncie, Delaware Co., IN. She was the daughter of Joseph Labon Moore and Jessie Charlene Smith. Martha P. Morris

Martha Pittenger Morris, 67, 1808 Riggin Road, wife of Joseph W. Morris, died Monday afternoon in Ball Hospital, apprently as the result of a heart attack Sunday evening.

She was born in Muncie, the daughter of Joseph and Jessie Smith Moore, graduated from Central High School and spent her entire life in this community.

Mrs. Morris was employed at Standard Radio Parts for 47 years.

Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Susan Lyn (Mrs. Jeffrey) Covert, and two granddaughters, Jennifer Ellen and Julie Lyn Covert, Libertyville, Ill., and two sisters, Helen (Mrs. Phillip) Mier, Huntingtown, Md., and Mary Jo (Mrs. William R.) McPeek, Greenville, Ohio.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Meeks Mortuary with Dr. Laurence A. Martin, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Entombment will be in Elm Ridge Mausoleum.

Calling hours at the mortuary are 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and before services Thursday.

     Martha Ellen Moore was born on 2 September 1922. She was the daughter of John Moore and Rosa Wilkin. Martha Ellen Moore married Roger Cailey Berry, son of George Arthur Berry and Sadie Cailey.
