Elizabeth Fern Engle, 86 of Pittsburg, KS died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015 at the Carrington Place in Pittsburg.

Mrs. Engle was born November 20, 1928 at Carthage, Missouri to George Burnett Mulford and Mary Evah (Seymour) Mulford.

She attended schools in Port Angeles, Washington-Dry Greek Elementary School and Roosevelt High School. She attended Western Washington College of Education in Wellington, Washington and Pittsburg State University.

Mrs. Engle moved to Pittsburg in 1965. She was employed at Helio Aircraft Company from 1962 until retiring in 1984.

She married Joseph Engle in 1972 in Pittsburg, KS; he preceded her in death on January 19, 2001.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and a Past Matron of Rob Morris Chapter #74, Order of the Eastern Star, she was also involved with the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include a sister, Shirley Kinsella of Auburn, WA, two step-daughters, Beverly Engle Peterson & husband David, who provided for her care, Barbara Engle Todd & husband Loren both of Pittsburg; four grandchildren: Jennifer Wilbourn Huff & husband C.J. of Joplin, MO, David Longan & fiancé Haley Munch of Pittsburg, Scott Simmons of Pittsburg, Lee Ann Simmons Ryan & husband James of Pittsburg; five great grandchildren Savannah, Keaton & Julianne Huff and Haley Eschelbrenner, Hayden McGuire, Cooper Ryan and Cruz Ryan; along with one nephew, three nieces, a special niece Tracy Thomas Fry and two sisters-in-law Tolly Harris Gore and Nancy Harris Cashero,

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister Louise Williams.

Memorial graveside services will be 3pm, Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Highland Park Cemetery with Rev. Mark Chambers officiating.      Catherine Mull was born on 7 November 1833 at Washington Co., IN.¹ She was the daughter of John Mull and Lucinda Davis.¹ Catherine Mull married Jeremiah Lewis Payne, son of Lewis Payne and Susannah Dawalt, on 23 March 1852 at Washington Co., IN. Catherine Mull died on 1 February 1913 at Franklin Twp., Washington Co., IN, at age 79 OBITUARY - The Salem Leader or Democrat; after 1 February 1913:

     Catharine Payne was born Nov. 7th, 1833, and departed this life, Feb. 1st, 1913, aged 79 years, 3 months and 25 days. She was married to Jeremiah L. Payne, March 25, 1852. To this union were born seven children, six girls and one boy, five of whom preceded her to the great beyond.
     She leaves to mourn her loss two children, Lucinda C. Walker and Samuel O. Payne; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, three sisters, Susan Burkett, of Illinois, Nancy Ashabraner, of California, Louisa Beeson, of Jeffersonville, Ind., one brother, Robert J. Mull, at South Boston, Ind., and a host of other relatives and friends.
     After lingering for nearly three months with old age and heart trouble, she passed quietly away. She was a good friend and neighbor, ever ready to lend a helping hand in sickness at any time.
     The funeral was conducted by Rev. Ben Taylor, assisted by Rev. Scott Applegate, at her son’s where she always made her home. A large crowd attended at 2 o’clock, Feb. 2nd.
