GLENROCK MAN KILLED BY CONCERETE SLAB

Theodore "Ted" R. Munsinger, 51, was killed instantly Tuesday afternoon at Glenrock while working at the Phillips Petroleum Well No. 1, about one block from the business section. Mr. Munsinger, who was head of the Munsinger Ditching Co., was crushed to death when a slab of concrete fell on him. His wife and two sons were at the scene when the accident occurred. The fatality happened during operations to abandon the well.

Ted was the son of Guy and Bell Munsinger. He attended school at Thermopolis, Wyoming and for a number of years was engaged as a driller in the oil fields. For the past ten years he headed the firm of T. R. Munsinger and Sons, ditching and drilling contractors. Mr. Munsinger was married to Miss Irene Sterling and to this union five children were born, four of whom survive. In addition to Mrs. Munsinger, survivors include three sons, John C. Munsinger and Floyd W. Munsinger, all of Glenrock; one daughter, Mrs. Leonard Burch of Laramie; his father, Guy Munsinger of Glenrock; two sisters, Mrs. Clare (Minnie) McElhinny of Casper and Mrs. Effie McArthur of California; two brothers, William Munsinger of California and Edward Munsinger of Montana; and five grandchildren. One son, Leonard, died in infancy.

POWELL, Wyo. -- Mass for Theodore William Munsinger, 41, killed while working on a power line Tuesday in Powell, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Barbara Catholic Church.

A city employe, Mr. Munsinger was a retired Air Force man who came to Powell four years ago. He had been in the service 21 years.

The Rev. D. B. Carroll will be celebrant. The rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, weith Easton's Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Munsinger was bron March 14, 1932, in Bridger, Mont., a son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Munsinger. He married Joyce E. Taylor on Dec. 22, 1952 in Reno, Nev.

He had joined the Air Force after graduation in 1939 (sic) at a Prescott, Ariz., high school. He had been a member of the St. Barbara Catholic Parish and the Powell Elks Lodge.

Survivors include the widow and nine children, John, Stephen, Carol, Suzanne, Deborah, Richard, Catherine, Michelle and Christine, at home; his mother, Mrs. Adelia Hall and stepfather, Leonard Hall, of Powell; and a sister, Mrs. Shirley L. Kalember of Phoeniz, Ariz.

Mrs. Ann Wolf, age 53 of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in the East Texas Medical Center-Tyler. Mrs. Wolf was born October 16, 1956 in Crockett, Texas and had lived in Elkhart for the past seven months, previously living in Palestine. She had worked as a medication aide and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children James Albert Wolf, of Crockett, Shelly Marie Wolf, of Palestine and Chisa Ann Wolf, of Elkhart; six grandchildren; mother Velma Munsinger, of Crockett; brother Elton Munsinger, of Carthage; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceded in death by her father Elvin J. Munsinger; brother E.J. Munsinger; and grandmother, Tallie Hale. Funeral Services for Mrs. Ann Wolf were held Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gene Kellum officiating. Interment followed in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Velma M. VanOyen of Cottonwood went to meet her Savior on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008. She died peacefully in her sleep at the Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Velma was born June 13, 1911, At Bartlett, Neb., the daughter of Rollo and Cora Munsinger.

She married Alpha VanOyen Oct. 27, 1928, in Fullerton, Neb., and was married 62 years when Alpha passed away in 1990. They moved to Oregon and Idaho in the late 1930s and took up ranching. Velma worked for several years at the Shore Lodge in McCall before retiring. They moved to Cottonwood in 1989.

Velma is survived by three daughters and one son, Darlene Halbert and husband Merlin, and Shirley Smith, all of Cottonwood, Marion Whipple of Yakima, and Delwin VanOyen and wife Gloria of Kooskia; one brother, Kenneth Munsinger and wife Sally of Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Delores VanOyen and Twila Glenn; one grandson, Timothy Halbert; two brothers; and three sisters.

Velma was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a very gentle, kind and loving person, who will be greatly missed by all that cared for her.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Uhlorn Funeral Home in Cottonwood. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cottonwood Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Ambulance Fund.
