Charles E. Newell, 76, a resident of 1003 E. Elm St., passed away very suddenly Sunday afternoon at home.

Mr. Newell was born in Richland county, the son of R. B. Newell and Amanda Barnes. He was a postal employee in Williston, N. D., and in Sidney, Mont. for about 50 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No 1782 in Sidney; secretary of Yellowstone Lodge, A.F. & A.M. Al Bedoo Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. in Billings, Mont., and of Richland Lodge No. 100, O.E.S., and was a long-time member of the St. Lawrence Episcopal Church in Sidney.

His wife, the former Grace Ruud passed away two years ago. He was then married to Florence Becker in April of 1957, who survives him.

Also surviving are two children, Mrs. Margaret Harrison of Long View, Texas, and Charles Newell of Bellevue, Wash; eight grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Carol Rieger of St. Louis, Mo; and the following brothers and sister: Mrs. Flossie Barnhart of Olney, James Newell of Ballwin, Mo., Clifford Newell of Shamokin, Pa., and Leslie Newell of Vincennes, Ind.

A brief funeral service for Mr. Newell was held Wednesday morning in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Wilson Funeral Home, with Rev. Earl Fritz and Rev. Paul Ragsdale in charge. The body was then taken to Sidney, Mont. for final rites.

He was buried in January 1958 at Sidney Cemetery, Sidney, Richland Co., MT, Findagrave #152050360.

     Cicely Ruth Newell was born on 29 July 1927. She married Joseph Pawel Moll on 8 November 1947 at Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk, England. Cicely Ruth Newell died in January 2016 at Schaumburg, IL, at age 88.

     Clifford Tanner Newell was born on 22 March 1890 at Olney, Richland Co., IL. He was the son of Robert Bentley Newell and Nancy Amanda Barnes. Clifford Tanner Newell married Eva Louella Wagner, daughter of Nathan P. Wagner and Mary Melinda Badman. Clifford Tanner Newell lived on 3 April 1930 at 107 Third Street, Shamokin, Northumberland Co., PA, Clerk at electric utility.¹ He died on 7 November 1966 at Shamokin, Northumberland Co., PA, at age 76

Clifford was born on March 22,1890. His parents were Robert Bentley Newell and Amanda Nancy Barnes. He was married to Eva Louella Wagner and they had five children Bonnie Louella Gross, Donald Newell, Kenneth Newell who died at 13 days old, Janet Briggs, Yvonne (Pudge) Young. Clifford died on November 7, 1966 at the age of 76. He was a loving and caring man who went out of the way to help anyone. Clifford also served in World War 1 and World War 2.
