NICHOL, MARGARET NEAL NOLEN - passed away on September 12, 2011. She was born, on May 1, 1925, in Alamo, Crockett County, Tennessee. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was active in her church, various clubs and as a community volunteer in the Concord/Farragut area. During her life, Margaret held many positions in the church, as well as the United Methodist Women. She was president of the UMW three times; served as an officer in the Oak Ridge District of UMW; and served as an officer in the Holston Conference of UMW. Her main interest was in Missions, both home and foreign, and she was a member of the first United Methodist Women's foreign mission trip, which went to Haiti. Margaret was active in the Farragut Parent Teacher Association serving on the board in many capacities and as President of Farragut Parent Teach Association when the elementary, middle and high schools were combined. When the elementary school formed their new PTA, she assisted in the formation of that organization. When the new Farragut High School was built it was necessary to have a new parent organization. She was the founder, along with the president, of the new Parent Teacher Student Association. Margaret Nichol was a past member of Farragut Women's Club; Ossoli Women's Club; Belle Fleur Garden Club; and Knoxville Rose Society. She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Italy, Germany, Ireland, the Orient, Mexico, West Indies and spent considerable time with her daughter, Elsa, and family in Salzburg, Austria. Margaret was a noted genealogist, with her hobby extending over a period of 45 years. In 2009, she published the book; "Campbell Station: Its Place In Time". She made contributions to genealogy websites throughout the eastern United States. She compiled five genealogy lineage books; and compiled a Southern Heritage Cookbook. Before returning to Knoxville last year she spent the last twenty years in Jacksonville, Florida. The family wishes to express it deep appreciation to the staff of Little Creek Sanitarium for their compassionate care in her final days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Pierce and Maude Worrell Nolen, her husband, Harry Hite Nichol, her son James Neal Nichol, and two brothers Jesse Nolen Jr. and Bobby Nolen. Margaret is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, H. Douglas and Debi Nichol of Lenoir City, Tennessee, David W. and Kathy Nichol of Mobile, Alabama; daughter Elsa Jane Nichol of Knoxville, Tennessee and seven grandchildren, Jessica Nichol, Rachael Nichol, Ethan Nichol, Bonny Nichol, Harry Spraiter, Douglas Spraiter and James Spraiter.
