     Occupation: Blacksmith. Abraham Stauffer was Mennonite. He was born in 1729 at Perkioman Twp., Montgomery Co., PA, (DAVIS) Abraham patented 50 acres in Robinson (Robeson) township, Berks county, 25 Mar 1748. He was taxed on 150 acres at Cocalico township in 1756. It was probably the 150 acres that his father had received in 1734. He bought land in Cumru township, Berks county in 1761. His father conveyed land to him in Cocalico township in 1762. He sold that land in 1762. He later moved to Managhan township, York county. He was the son of Heinrich Stauffer and Elizabeth (?) Abraham Stauffer died on 7 July 1785 at Monoghan Twp., York Co., PA.

Abraham Stauffer died on 10 December 1813 at Boyertown, Colebrookdale Twp., Berks Co., PA.

     Note: Abraham is presumed to have married a second time after he moved to Ontario, Canada. His 10 children are listed on page 5 of "Record of Abraham Stauffer" According to one souce, his will was made in Canada in 1827, and probated 11-9-1844 (Amos K. Stauffer). (from PA FAMILIES, p. 26) On August 17, 1805, Abraham conveyed the 153 acre tract in Warwick, which he had obtained in 1779 from his parents, to Abrahm Zug. No wife joined in the grant. Apparently this action was in anticipation of his removal to Waterloo Township, Ontario, Canada. In connection with the Waterloo, Ontario, migration which took many farmers from Lancaster County, it should be noted that another Abraham (1780-1851), grandson of Jacob and Magdalena (Hess) Stauffer of Warwick Township, also migrated to Waterloo Township. Abraham Stauffer was born on 17 November 1748. He was the son of Daniel Stauffer. Abraham Stauffer died on 11 March 1803 at Waterloo Twp., Ontario, Canada, at age 54.
