     William Leonard Parrett was born on 20 January 1880 at Jefferson Twp., Huntington Co., IN, The 1880 census (June 17) shows no such child, however both the 1900 census and his obituary give the year as 1880. DLB 2012.¹ He was the son of Leonard Parrett and Evaline Richardson.¹ William Leonard Parrett married Maggie Jane Pinkerton, daughter of John Christopher Pinkerton and Mary Adeline Cecil, in 1904 at Huntington Co., IN. "William L. Parrett, 82, a retired resident of Mt. Etna, died unexpectedly Saturday evening in his home.

He was born January 20, 1880, in Huntington County to Leonard and Mary Richardson Parrett and had been a resident of the county all his life. His marriage was to Maggie Pinkerton in 1904. She died November 30, 1943.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Hayden Bowers, Huntington route three; Mrs. Harry Lane, Orleans; Mrs. Carl Tiffany, Indianapolis; Mrs. Monroe Ferguson and Mrs. Fred Cunningham, both of this city; three sons, Arthur J. of Huntington, George W. of Huntington route seven; and Robert E. of Huntington route three; 29 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren. Two grandchildren, two daughters and three brothers are dead.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Robbins Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Russell Wolf officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Etna Cemetery."

Mrs. Jesse Gopson's Funeral on Wednesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Jesse E. Gipson, 26, of Perry, who died Monday at the Audrain Hospital, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Christian church in Santa Fe. The Rev. Bryan Lee Hansford, former pastor, conducted the services, and interment was in the East Lawn Memorial Park here.

Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of Canton Craghead No. 41, Patriarch Militant, were in charge of the White Rose graveside service with Mrs. Charles Styles, president, reading the charge, and Mrs. Cleveland Lipp, past president of the Association of the Auxiliary, acting as chaplain.

Others taking part were Mrs. Ben Langenbach, Mrs. Carl Cleeton, Mrs. Scott Rankin, Mrs. Charles Kehl, Mrs. Ross White, Mrs. Homer Martin and Mrs. A. C. Whitson of Mexico; Mrs. Lela Bailey and Mrs. Flora Yeager of Perry; Mrs. George Wyss of Centralia; and Mrs. Harry Vannoy, Mrs. A. H. Dohman and Mrs. Tom Underwood of Auxvasse.

Honorary pallbearers were: Mr. Langenbach, Mr. Styles, Mr. Kehl, Guy Ulrich and D. K. Staples of Perry, members of the IOOF Lodge.

Mrs. Gipson is survived by her husband and three children.

     Nellie Narcissa Parrish was born in March 1880 at Christian Co., IL. She married John Daniel Bottrell on 27 September 1899 at Decatur, Macon Co., IL. Nellie Narcissa Parrish died on 5 December 1918 at Longwood, Kay Co., OK, at age 38.

Josephine P. Burgess

Josephine Parrott Burgess, whose grandfather paid $300 for a cow pasture that now is the site of the downtown Emporium, has died in San Mateo, one of the last of the old families that made California history.

Mrs. Burgess, who died last Sunday at 89, was born in San Francisco, daughter of John Parrott and Mary Donohoe. Her grandfather, also John Parrott, was a onetime (1832-47) U.S. consul at Mazatlan, Mexico, who started buying property here in 1847, built The City's first fireproof office building at Montgomery and California streets, and in 1861 became one of California's largest landowners when he acquired an interest in the 17,000 acre Llano Seco Mexican land grant in what now is Butte Conty (sic).

Mrs. Burgess came in for some public attention in 1912 when she and a sister took up the racing of automobiles (no common pastime in those days) and as a result were packed off to Europe by their grandmother. A few years later Mrs. Burgess made history of her own when she was admitted to Navy service with the rating yeoman first class, one of the first women to join the American armed forces in World War I.

Mrs. Burgess was married twice, and leaves a son, John Redington of San Francisco, and a daughter, Ann Redington Franco of Maine, by her first husband, Laurance Redington, who died here in 1937, and seven grandchildren. A Mass was scheduled today in Old St. Matthew's Catholic Church in San Mateo.

She was buried in September 1980 at Saint John's Cemetery, San Mateo, San Mateo Co., CA, Findagrave #82888426.

     Marie Emilie Parrott was born on 18 February 1883 at London, England, daughter of John and Mary Emilie (Donohoe) Parrott. She married William Wilberforce Williams Jr., son of Maj. William Wilberforce Williams and Lucy Neil, on 19 March 1924 at "Baywood" Parrott residence on El Camino Real, San Mateo, San Mateo Co., CA, ceremony by Rev. Timothy Callaghan of St. Matthew's church. No children. Marie Emilie Parrott died on 21 February 1967 at San Mateo, San Mateo Co., CA, at age 84. She was buried in February 1967 at Saint John's Cemetery, San Mateo, San Mateo Co., CA, Findagrave #85677896.

     William H. Parrott was born in 1849 at Albemarle Co., VA. He was the son of Charles Hulett Parrott and Martha Brown. William H. Parrott married Anne Faith Thomas, daughter of Christopher Yancey Thomas and Mary Ann Reamey. Occupation: Educator, founded East End Academy with his wife. William H. Parrott died in 1898.
