George L. Pinnell of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, October 20, 1914 in Crawford County, Missouri to the union of Walter and Sarah Elizabeth (nee: Enloe) Pinnell and left from this life on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Sunset Health Care Center, Union, Missouri at the age of 93 years 6 months and 24 days.
George was united in marriage to Evelyn Mae Branson on June 17, 1939 and to this union two children were born Janice and Bob. Evelyn passed away in September of 1977. George married Lullia Wanetia (nee: Reynolds) on January 31, 1983 and she passed away in August of 1997.
George worked as a laborer for Robert Boston Construction Company, St. Louis, Missouri, where he retired in 1976 after 26 years of dedicated service.
After retiring from the union and the city, George got to enjoy hunting, going to yard sales and searching for arrowheads. During the spring he would get his two gardens ready. He would grow vegetables and sell them at the Farmers Market here in Cuba or share them with all of his family, neighbors and friends.
George was always the life of the party from his younger years of Square Dancing to going to the Cuba Senior Center and listening to music. But what George enjoyed and loved most was spending time with this family and friends.
George was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle, great uncle great-great uncle, cousin and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
George is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Sarah Elizabeth Pinnell, three brothers Earl, Frank and John Pinnell and other family members and friends.
Those who are left to treasure his memory and to celebrate a life lived is his son Bob and wife Crystal Pinnell of Cuba, daughter Janice and husband Kermit Kitchen of Leasburg, four grandchildren; Heather Pinnell, Jeremy Hundley, Robbie Pinnell and Christopher Scott, two beautiful great grandchildren; Aiden and Garrett, one brother Jimmy and wife Barbara Pinnell of St. Ann, Missouri and two sisters; Ida May Licklider and Gladyne Riddle both of Cuba, a host nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 15th from 5 till 8 PM at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral service will be 10 AM Friday, May 16th at Britton Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Mace officiating. Interment will follow at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

Mrs. David Smyth, 69, resident of Spencer from 1873 to 1890, died Sunday morning, Octber 8, at her home in Gothenburg, Neb., of injuries sustained in a fall August 14.
For 25 years Mrs. Smyth had been suffering from a complication of diseases, and the shock of the fall was too great for her recovery. She lingered, bedridden, until her death.
Following funeral services at a funeral chapel in Gothenburg Tuesday afternoon the body accompanied by Mr. Smyth, her husband brought to Spencer Wednesday and memorial services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the Cobb funeral home.
Dr. H.E. Hutchinson will be in charge and interment will be in Riverside cemetery where three sons of Mrs. Smyth are buried. They died during a severe plague of black measles in the 80's, claiming the lives of hundreds.
May Pinneo was born June 14, 1864 at Paola, Kan. When nine years of age, she came with her mother to Spencer. Following her marriage to Mr. Smyth they made their home here until 1890, when, after the death of their three sons, the left here, locating in Stockton, Kan.
In 1903 they moved to Downs, Kan., and have also made their home at North Platte and Brady before locating at Gotherburg, a year ago.
She is survived by three children, Mrs. Mary Eunice Fraker of Gothenburg, Harold Pinneo Smyth of Topeka, Kan., and Mrs. Heloise Lasnier of Concordia, Kan; a brother C. M. Pinneo of Schaller who is a well known former resident of Spencer and a sister, Mrs. N.P. Wharton of Philadelphia, Pa.
Mr. Smyth is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. John Cory, Sr. during his stay here.
