     Samuel Frederick Pointer was also known as "Fred".² He was born on 24 August 1873 at Red Rock Twp., Marion Co., IA, Or 1872, as per 1900 census.^1,3 He was the son of Noah Pointer and Hannah Roush.¹ Samuel Frederick Pointer married Elsie Estelle McAfoo on 21 November 1894 at Kansas.³ Samuel Frederick Pointer lived in May 1910 at Cook Twp., Decatur Co., KS.² He died on 12 October 1940 at Goodland, Sheridan Co., KS, at age 67.

     Sarah Pointer was born circa 1866 at Red Rock Twp., Marion Co., IA.^2,1 She was the daughter of Noah Pointer and Hannah Roush.¹

     Sarah Rebecca Pointer was born on 8 November 1872 at Marion Co., IA. She was the daughter of Benjamin F. Pointer and Abigail Farris. Sarah Rebecca Pointer died on 10 November 1963 at Shelby, Polk Co., NE, at age 91.

     Susan Charlotte Pointer was born in April 1874 at Marion Co. (probably), IA.¹ She was the daughter of Benjamin F. Pointer and Abigail Farris. Susan Charlotte Pointer married Ira O. Dexter, son of David Dexter and Sarah Delcena (?), circa 1895.¹ Susan Charlotte Pointer lived on 5 February 1920 at Gibbon, Buffalo Co., NE, census p.11A. She lived on 28 April 1930 at Shelby, Polk Co., NE, census p.5A. She died on 10 September 1971 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., CA, at age 97.

     Uriah Pointer was born on 20 December 1870 at Marion Co., IA.¹ He was the son of Benjamin F. Pointer and Abigail Farris. Uriah Pointer lived on 1 June 1900 at Limber Creek Twp., Nance Co., NE, living with sister Susan Dexter's family.¹ He died on 6 March 1935 at age 64.

     Viola Pointer was born in January 1865 at Red Rock Twp., Marion Co., IA, Assume the "January" month given in the 1900 census was correct, although she had shaved 5 years off her age and gave 1870 as the year. DLB 2010.^2,1,3 She was the daughter of Noah Pointer and Hannah Roush.¹ Viola Pointer married Arthur Southworth, son of Albert Southworth and Antoinette (?), on 14 May 1892 at Frontier Co., NE.³ Viola Pointer died in 1944 at Colorado. She was buried in 1944 at Montrose Co., CO.

     Virgie Pointer was born in 1902 at Decatur Co., KS.¹ She was the daughter of Samuel Frederick Pointer and Elsie Estelle McAfoo.¹

     William Pointer was born in January 1869 at Red Rock Twp., Marion Co., IA.^1,2 He was the son of Noah Pointer and Hannah Roush.¹

     "Genie" Arthur Pointexter Jr. was also known as Eugene Genie apparently never used "Eugene", although that name is on his father's headstone. He was listed in all public documents, including military and Social Security records, as Genie or G.A. Poindexter. He was born on 27 December 1916 at Fall Creek, Yadkin Co., NC.¹ He was the son of Eugene Arthur Pointexter Sr. and Martha Elizabeth Mathis.¹ "Genie" Arthur Pointexter Jr. lived in 1942 at East Bend, Yadkin Co., NC, WW II draft registration. He began military service on 7 March 1942 WW II service, U.S. Army, enlisted, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; discharged 28 OCT 1945 A military record indicates he was hospitalized during DEC 1943 to MAR 1944 with lymphatic filariasis (Wuchereria), a parasitic infection by a worm found only in the Southern Hemisphere, suggesting service in the South Pacific theater.

He married Leta Marie Wilson, daughter of Lewis Franklin Wilson and Matilda L. Curry, on 22 July 1944 at Winnebago Co., IL, Circumstantial evidence suggests Leta met Genie while he was in a military hospital being treated for filariasis during DEC 1943 - MAR 1944. An online public member tree on ancestry.com indicates that a daughter and two sons were born to the marriage (names and dates privatized).

"Genie" Arthur Pointexter Jr. died on 26 October 2006 at Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC, at age 89.

     Eugene Arthur Pointexter Sr. was also known as "Genie".¹ He was born on 16 May 1876 at North Carolina.¹ He married Martha Elizabeth Mathis in 1901. A Well Known Citizen of this County Dies in Baltimore

Charles F. Poland, well known throughout the county, is dead. A telegram was received here Sunday evening from Baltimore, conveying this information which came as a shock to his friends.
Mr. Poland had been ill since Thanksgiving Day and on Monday morning prior to his death he went to Baltimore at the advice of his physician, for treatment. Mrs. Poland accompanied her husband in the hope that he would be benefited by treatment there.
The deceased was a native of this county and was about 46 years of age. He was the founder of this paper, having established it here in 1884 and owned and edited it until 1890, when it was purchased by its present proprietors. He afterwards purchased the Episcopal Methodist of Baltimore, then organ of the Baltimore Conference. M. E. Church, South now the Christian Advocate, which he owned only a short time, selling it to its present owner. He afterwards edited the South Branch Intelligencer for some three years, from the time of its purchase by a syndicate until its consolidation with the Review. Mr. Poland was, for many years, a member of the Southern Methodist Church and at one time contemplated becoming a minister in that church.
He was married some years ago to Miss Julia Fetzer of Martinsburg, who survives him.
The remains arrived here on the evening train Monday and were taken to the home of C.H. Cookus. The Funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the M. E. Church, South, the services being conducted by the Pastor, Rev. D.L.Reid.

     Laura Lucile Poland was born on 26 February 1896 at Knox Co., OH. She was the daughter of Frank Oscar Poland and Mary Wintermute. Laura Lucile Poland married Clarence Elwood Armstrong. Laura Lucile Poland lived in April 1940 at Washington, D.C..¹ She died on 13 November 1956 at Bartow Co., GA, at age 60.

     Leta Louisa Poland was born on 21 February 1899. She was the daughter of Frank Oscar Poland and Mary Wintermute. Leta Louisa Poland married John Graham in February 1922.
