Private family committal service will take place prior to the memorial service in the Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.

Joyce Zerelda Kruse was born on September 7, 1934 in Sibley, IA, the daughter of George and Foy (Hoover) Bauman. She was raised in Sibley and graduated from Sibley High School.

In July of 1952, Joyce was united in marriage to Alvin Kruse. The couple farmed south of Bigelow, milked cows and had chickens, pigs and cattle. To this union four children were born, three girls and one boy.

After their youngest child started school Joyce began working for Sibley Middle School as a secretary, retiring from there after thirty-two years.

When her children were young she was active in the music boosters and other school organizations. She also accompanied for many school contests and played at many weddings and funerals.

Joyce served as church organist for Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley from the age of fourteen and continued over 60 years. She was active in the church and served as a Sunday school teacher, a church council member, a member of the Womens Group, and various committees. The last two years

Joyce was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she continued as the church organist as well as church treasurer.

She was active in meals-on-wheels, served on the Early Childhood Iowa Empowerment Board and was a member of the Red Hats Club.

Joyce enjoyed traveling, reading, volunteering, watching the Minnesota Twins, playing a handheld Yahtzee game, cards, and doing crossword puzzles and word searches.

Joyce was a proud supporter of the Sibley Generals and was honored as "fan of the year" in 2010.

Joyce loved attending music and sporting events of her children and grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. Joyce enjoyed spending time at the Lakes with her family.

Joyce is survived by her four children, Don (wife, Teresa) Kruse of Spirit Lake, IA, Maureen (husband, Dan) Breuker of Harris, IA, DeLinda (husband, Grant) Leu of Spencer, IA and Carmen (husband, Jim) Howard of Covington, LA; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Juanita (husband, Fred) Dreessen of Inwood, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Foy Bauman.

DONALD R. BAUMANN

Services for Donald Ray Baumann, 38, of Lacona, formerly of Des Moines, will be 3 p.m. Friday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Baumann died of cancer Tuesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital after a two-year illness.

A trucker driver for Leroy weed, Inc., he lived in Des Moines most of his life before moving to Lacona four years ago. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, American Legion and the Masonic Lodge in Lacona.

Surviving are five children: A daughter, Debbie, and a son Randy, who live with their mother in Melcher, a daughter Kimberly, and two sons, Terry and Scott, who lived with Mr. Baumann in Lacona; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Quick, Mrs. Karen Stubbs and Mrs. Judy Ann Steil, and a half-sister, Diane Doty, all of Des Moines; two brothers, William of Bellevue, Neb., and Gottlieb (Jay) of Des Moines, and his mother, Mrs. Maguerite Doty of Des Moines.

Kimberly Sue Bowers, 59 of Earlham passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019. Kimberly was born February 8, 1960 to Donald and Jeanne Baumann in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Lacona and Melcher-Dallas, Iowa. She attended school at Melcher-Dallas and graduated from Melcher-Dallas High School with the class of 1978. Kimberly was united in marriage to Joseph Bowers on October 8, 1980 in Melcher-Dallas. To this union two children were born, Joseph and Amanda. The family made their home in Melcher-Dallas, before later moving to Piedmont, Missouri, Irvington, Alabama and lastly settling in Earlham.

She worked as a teacher’s aide, decorated cakes and worked a promotional job. She loved cooking, baking and was a very talented cake decorator. Kimberly also enjoyed gardening and tending to flowers, most of all she treasured time spent with her family and grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her parents.

Kimberly is survived by her husband, Joseph of Earlham; son, Joseph of Earlham; daughter Amanda (Phil) Renze of Omaha; grandsons, Drew and Jarett; siblings: Debbie Caikoski, Terry Bauman, Randy Bauman and Scott Bauman.
