He worked at Southern Railroad for 14 years and continued his musical career with the Sexton German Band.
After retirement, he volunteered at Doctor's Hospital and Project Head Start, using his humor and puppet skills to bring smiles to many patients and children.
He was a member of the Greenbelt Community Band and Toastmasters.
A Memorial service with military honors will be held at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Arrangements by Beall Funeral Home, Bowie, MD.
