Mary Catherine Range was born on 15 February 1843 at Greene Co., IL.1 She was the daughter of Allen Range and Agnes Crouch. Mary Catherine Range married Russell B. Bowsher, son of Jesse Bowsher and Elizabeth Clayton, on 21 December 1860 at Macoupin Co., IL, Eight children born, five living as of the 1900 census.1 Mary Catherine Range lived on 8 June 1880 at Shaws Point Twp., Macoupin Co., IL, farming.2 She died on 10 February 1930 at Bowie, Cochise Co., AZ, at age 86. She was buried in February 1930 at Range Cemetery, Macoupin Co., IL, Findagrave #100910880. Death certificate says she died in Cochise County, Arizona but the body was returned to Palmyra for burial. No stone found.

MRS. ALTA R. BURLESON
BAKERSVILLE, N. C. -- Mrs. Alta R. Burleson, 73, a former resident of Bakersville, died in a Charlotte hospital Thursday evening following a short illness.
Mrs. Burleson was the daughter of the late David and Alice L. Rankin and was a member of the Bakersville Baptist Church. She was a graduate of East Tennessee State College, Johnson City, Tenn., and had taught in the Bowman Elementary School for 30 years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the Bakersville chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeter C. Burleson, who died in 1960.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce, Charlotte, and William, Washington, D.C; one brother, Willie Rankin, Jonesboro, Tenn., and three grandchildren.
Henline-Hughes is in charge.

Charles Gray Rankin

Occupation: Clerked in his father's store until he was 21; then farmed on an extensive scale. In 1875 he was one of the organizers of the Home Wollen Company.

In 1890 he sold the David Rankin homeplace (which he became owner of when he married Louise (DeVault) Rankin) to Sarah R. Hendrix from Carter County. Until that sale, the property had remained in the Rankin name through the years. In 1892, Sarah R. Hendrix sold the property to J. W. Sweney. In 1982 the property was owned by Mrs. Margaret Hankins Bowman, a descendent of the Sweny family. Charles Gray Rankin was born on 5 March 1837 at Rheatown, Greene Co., TN. He was the son of John Rankin and Louisa A. Gray.1 Charles Gray Rankin married Louisa DaVault, daughter of Frederick DaVault and Margaret Range, on 17 December 1857 at Washington Co., TN. Charles Gray Rankin died on 10 July 1911 at age 74. He was buried in July 1911 at Mt. Bethel Presbyterian Church, near Limestone, Washington Co., Greene Co., TN.
