     Alfred Henry Rhodes was born on 22 October 1840 at Strasburg, Shenandoah Co., VA.^1,2 He was the son of Valentine Rhodes and Elizabeth Blind. Alfred Henry Rhodes married Caroline Newlin, daughter of Ahi Newlin and Rachel Elizabeth Hill, on 22 February 1863 at Crawford Co., IL. Alfred Henry Rhodes lived on 18 July 1870 at Orange Twp., Clark Co., IL, farming.² He died on 11 September 1928 at Crawford Co., IL, at age 87

"Alfred Henry, son of Valentine and Elizabeth Bline Rhodes, was born near Strausburg, Virginia, October 22, 1840 an departed this life, Sept. 11, 1928, aged 87 years, 10 months, and 19 days. When a very small boy he moved with his parents, to Newark, Ohio. From there at the age of 17 years, he with his mother and sister came in a one horse covered wagon to the state of Illinois. They first settled on White Prairie, near what is now Bellair.
On February 22, 1863, he was united in marriage to Caroline Newlin. To this union were born eight children, Mary, Katie, Clara, Everett, a daughter who died in infancy, Lawrence, Laura, and Alice. Four, Mary, Katie, Everett, and the infant daughter have preceeded him in death. The surviving children are, Mrs. Clara Hart of Annapolis, Lawrence Rhodes and Mrs. Laura Smith of Eaton, and Mrs. Alice King of Oblong.
He was a member of the Christian church of Porterville, and attended faithfully as long as his health permitted. He was also a member of the Grange Lodge No. 825 and a charter member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge N. 972.
Besides the aged companion and four children he leaves to mourn his departure 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends."¹

     Alice Rachel Louisa Rhodes was born in July 1881 at Illinois. She was the daughter of Alfred Henry Rhodes and Caroline Newlin. Alice Rachel Louisa Rhodes married James King, son of Lucy (?), on 9 January 1901 at Eaton, Crawford Co., IL, no children. Alice Rachel Louisa Rhodes died circa 1965 at Oblong, Crawford Co., IL.

     Amzie Hershel Rhodes was born on 1 April 1906. He was the son of William W. Rhodes and Emma Florence Stonecipher. Amzie Hershel Rhodes married Elsie Kathleen Crecelius, daughter of Strause Crecelius and Minnie Rainbolt, on 4 May 1930. Amzie Hershel Rhodes died on 8 December 1958 at age 52. Cause of death: on 8 December 1958 farm accident. He was buried in 1958 at Heidelberg Cemetery, Harrison Co., IN.

     Anna Rhodes was born on 13 December 1824 at Harrison Co. (probably), IN.¹ She was the daughter of Abraham Rhodes and Mary Crabill. Anna Rhodes married Philip D. Windell, son of Augustine Wendel and Barbara Keller, on 26 November 1846 at Harrison Co., IN. Anna Rhodes died on 1 August 1863 at age 38 dates per headstone. She was buried in August 1863 at Hillgrove Cemetery, Corydon, Harrison Twp., IN.

     Anna Rhodes was also known as Nancy.² She was born circa 1840 at Franklin Co., PA.¹ She was the daughter of Christian Rhodes and Mary Magdalena Metz.¹

     Barbara Rhodes was born on 11 May 1819 Birth date calculated from headstone inscription "aged 75 years, 1 month, 15 days."

1860 census info shows age 44, which would translate to about 1816.¹ She married John Saum, son of Frederick Saum and Catherine Caley. Barbara Rhodes died on 26 June 1894 at Highland Co., OH, at age 75.

     Basheba Rhodes was born on 26 August 1845 at McLean Co., IL, Headstone shows 1844, however brother Ebenezer was born in January, 1844 so she had to be born the following year. DLB 2017.¹ She was the daughter of Jeremiah S. Rhodes and Mathurza Johnson. Basheba Rhodes married Sylvester Smith on 20 February 1868 at McLean Co., IL. Basheba Rhodes died on 4 March 1914 at McLean Co., IL, at age 68. She was buried in March 1914 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bloomington, McLean Co., IL, Find A Grave Memorial# 29664791.

     Benjamin Rhodes was born circa 1844 at Franklin Co., PA.¹ He was the son of Christian Rhodes and Mary Magdalena Metz.¹

     Bernice Marie Rhodes was born on 25 April 1895 at Eaton, Crawford Co., IL. She was the daughter of Lawrence Ahi Rhodes and Rhea Isola Buff. Bernice Marie Rhodes married Harry Leander Boyd, son of Adam Boyd and Nora Eaton, circa 1915. Bernice Marie Rhodes lived in 1930 at Maxwell Twp., Pontotoc Co., OK. She died on 30 April 1997 at Ada, Pontotoc Co., OK, at age 102.

     Catherine Rhodes was born circa 1822 at Virginia. She married William H. Harper on 23 April 1843 at Harrison Co., IN.

     Charles Rhodes was born on 12 August 1725 at Horton, Gloucestershire, England. He married Alice van Kirk on 28 July 1750 at Freehold, Monmouth Co., NJ. Charles Rhodes died on 14 February 1800 at Middleville, Sussex Co., NJ, at age 74.

     Christian Rhodes was born on 31 December 1811. He married Mary Magdalena Metz, daughter of John Metz and Magdalena Stouffer, on 21 January 1834 at Chambersburg, Franklin Co., PA. Christian Rhodes died on 16 December 1859 at Chambersburg, Franklin Co., PA, at age 47.

     Clara Eveline Rhodes was born on 9 July 1868 at Clark Co., IL.¹ She was the daughter of Alfred Henry Rhodes and Caroline Newlin. Clara Eveline Rhodes married William Presley Hart Jr., son of William Presley Hart and Rachel Beal, on 29 December 1889 at Crawford Co., IL. Clara Eveline Rhodes died on 20 December 1936 at age 68. She was buried in December 1936 at Johnson Cemetery, Clark Co., IL, Findagrave #43830624.

     David Rhodes was born circa 1846 at Franklin Co., PA.¹ He was the son of Christian Rhodes and Mary Magdalena Metz.¹

     David Milton Rhodes was born on 25 September 1935 at Shenandoah Co., VA; son of Ralph Joseph and Maguerite (Burner) Rhodes. He died on 27 December 1993 at Woodstock, Shenandoah Co., VA, at age 58. He was buried in December 1993 at Zion Christian Church Cemetery, Maurertown, Shenandoah Co., VA, Findagrave #94139094.
