OBITUARY OF EMMA ISADORA RIGG CURRY:

PROPHETSTOWN--Mrs. Dora Curry, 98, oldest Prophetstown resident, died Monday evening at her home. The body was removed to the Gardner Funeral Chapel, where friends may call after noon on Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted at the chapel Thursday at 3 PM, the Rev. William Nicolls, pastor of the Prophetstown Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Emma Isadora Curry was born Dec 3, 1861, in Mount Carmel, the daughter of Charles and Gabrella Brown Rigg. She was educated in the Wayne County schools and attended the Metropolis school where she took a course in teaching. She was married to James A. Curry of Ellsworth at the home of her parents on March 31, 1899. They moved to Prophetstown in 1914.

Survivors are 3 sons, W.A. Curry, Brainerd, Minn; Taylor Curry, Prophetstown; Warren Curry, Sterling; 3 daughters, Mrs. Forrest (Fern) Lyon, Prophetstown; Mrs. Charles (Mabel) Sibley, Tampa, Fla; Mr Loyal (Hallie) Hammer, Morrison; 14 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, (THEY DIVORCED IN 1926), one son in infancy, one grandaughter, two brothers and 4 sisters.

     Cara Mae Riggle was born on 3 September 1919 at Nashport, Coshocton Co., OH. She was the daughter of Ray Royal Riggle and Vitae Verlanda Norris. Cara Mae Riggle married William Robert Wendell, son of Ira Daniel Wendell and Mabel O. Graham, on 5 November 1938 at Meigs Co., OH. Mason S. Riggs, 88, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Riggs was born, August 3, 1929 in Shippensburg, PA and was the son of the late, Mason C. and Elsie L. Riggs. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jo Moody who passed away in 2003; a brother, Paul L. Riggs and two sisters, Marie Kann and Ruth Halterman Swecker.

Mason moved to Harrisonburg in 1940 and attended Harrisonburg High School, later serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955. He had a career in sales of Livestock and Poultry Products to the Feed Manufacturing industry. He spent 32 years in several areas of the Mid-West as well as in the South before returning to Harrisonburg upon retirement in 1994. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Christian Church in Elkton.

In 2004 he married Nancy Shifflett Riggs who survives. Also surviving is a son, Mike Riggs and wife, Mary of Harrisonburg; step-children, Richard Shifflett of Louisa, Debbie Lewis of Harrisonburg, Jeanne Horn of Richmond and Sherry Greenwald and husband, David of New Bern, NC; granddaughter, Angela Riggs Loe; two great-grandchildren, Brianne and Eric Loe and two step-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2018 at Mt. Olivet Christian Church in Elkton with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
