Ithamer Sank Seiler
M, b. 10 August 1874, d. 21 January 1947
Ithamer Sank Seiler was born on 10 August 1874 at Missouri. He was the son of Philip Seiler and Martha Ann Rider.1 Ithamer Sank Seiler married Phoebe R. Demma Snapp, daughter of Robert Grant Snapp and Lydia Ann Rider, on 6 May 1915 at Cricket, Marion Co., AR. Ithamer Sank Seiler died on 21 January 1947 at Springfield, Greene Co., MO, at age 72 Obituary (findagrave.com):
Ithamer Sank Seiler was born in Taney County, Missouri, on 10 Aug 1874. He was the son of Phillip and Martha Ann (Rider) Siler. He first married Alma D. Hall Siler (she was previously married to his brother, Sylvester) on 23 Sep 1893. They divorced on 16 Jan 1914. They had 2 daughters.
He married Phoebe R. Demma Snapp on 6 May 1915, in Cricket, Arkansas. They lived in Kirbyville, Taney, Missouri, until after their first child, Ernest Colly Siler, was born. Then they moved to Springfield, Greene, Missouri, where they had 7 more children: Mildred, Hazel, Fern, Betty, Phillip, Peggy, and Ethel. They lived the rest of their lives in Springfield.
Ithamer was a hard working man. He worked as a carpenter, painter, and paper hanger (wall paper). In 1929 he was appointed as Deputy Sheriff by Marcell Hendrix, Sheriff of Greene County, Missouri, at the time. In 1940 he was working for the WPA.
He was a friend to all who knew him.
He passed away on 21 Jan 1947. He was buried at Patterson Cemetery in Springfield, Greene, Missouri, but in later years was moved to Edwards Cemetery in Kirbyville, Taney, Missouri.
As for the spelling of the last name "Seiler" or "Siler", both spellings are correct. Many records over the years have spelled the name both ways. His oldest son, Colly, was researching the family history in later years, deciding to change the spelling of his last name to the old way of "Seiler." Some of the family decided to go with that spelling, while some of the family decided to continue with the spelling of "Siler." So either way is correct.
He was buried in January 1947 at Edwards Cemetery, Kirbyville, Taney Co., MO, Find A Grave Memorial# 23859980.
