G. Ray Shelton, 54, of Painter Creek Road in the South Central community, died Monday at his home.
Mr. Shelton was a tobacco farmer at South Central for a number of years.
He was a son of Maggie Shelton of Chuckey and the late Lonnie Shelton.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife: Arlene Shelton; two daughters: Julie Shelton and Amy Lawson, both of Limestone; two stepdaughters: Melinda Valentine and Sherry Valentine, and a stepson: Wayne Valentine Jr., all of Chuckey; three grandchildren: Logan Lawson, Justin Valentine, and Brett Victoria Garland; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Carl Shelton of Chuckey and Anderson and Margaret Shelton of Rutledge; and a sister and brother-in-law: Kathy and Don Rick of Salisbury, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the funeral home chapel with interment in Liberty Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Rines and the Rev. Marty Shelton will officiate.
Pallbearers will be relatives and friends.

Glen P. Shelton, 95 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, March 3rd, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on March 9th, 1917 in Marshall, North Carolina, son of the late Chapelle and Martha Jane Shelton. He attended the New Hope Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter.

     Otis Murl Shelton was also known as "Duke". He married Pearl Lucille Brown, daughter of Harvey L. Brown and Lula Joy, on 25 November 1957 at Perry, Noble Co., OK. Otis Murl Shelton died on 21 September 2009.

     Phyllis Lee Shelton was born on 3 November 1928 at West Plains, Howell Co., MO.¹ She was the daughter of Edgar Winfree Shelton Jr. and Nova Irene Chambers.¹ Phyllis Lee Shelton married William Robert Fluitt, son of William Oliver Fluitt and Claudia Elizabeth Mitchell, on 20 February 1946 at Indiana, William was first married to Bettie Joyce Lloyd on 20 MAY 1939, Garza County, Texas, and they had a son, William Lloyd Fluitt, born 21 SEP 1941 in Lubbock County. That marriage appears to have been a victim of WW II. He later married Johnnie Varie Tilley and after her death in 1966, Alma J. Henshaw on 10 SEP 1970, Dickens County, Texas.

Phyllis Lee Shelton married Norbert Thomas Ulbrich, son of Albert Robert Ulbrich and Frances M. Andruskevitch, on 13 June 1950 at Cook Co., IL. Phyllis Lee Shelton married Robert Earl Sorber. Phyllis Lee Shelton lived in 1969 at Denton, Denton Co., TX. She died on 28 January 1970 at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, Dallas Co., TX, at age 41. Cause of death: cervical cancer. She was buried in 1970 at Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton, Denton Co., TX, Findagrave #103253968.

     Margaretta Shenberger was born on 9 September 1825. She was the daughter of George Shenberger and Margaret Ott. Margaretta Shenberger married Benjamin Funk Kauffman, son of Michael Kauffman and Anna Maria Funk. Margaretta Shenberger died on 29 April 1867 at age 41.

     Wendell W. Shenberger was born on 13 October 1931 at Ohio.¹ He was the son of Harold W. Shenberger and Gladys Aida Zook.¹ Wendell W. Shenberger lived in April 1940 at West Street, Vermilion, Ashland Co., OH.¹ He ended military service on 24 September 1950; Korean War -- separated from U.S. Army, injured, later awarded Purple Heart. He married Bessie F. (?). Wendell W. Shenberger died on 18 November 2005 at age 74. He was buried in November 2005 at Veterans Honor Grounds, Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, Richland Co., OH.

     Elizabeth Sheneman married William R. Kolp, son of Joseph Kolp and Hannah Reed.¹

     John Sheneman was born in December 1860 at Indiana.¹ He married Sarah Baker circa 1884.¹ John Sheneman died in August 1937 at Emporia, Lyon Co., KS, at age 76.

     Nellie Baker Sheneman was born on 19 August 1885 at Jefferson Co., NE.¹ She was the daughter of John Sheneman and Sarah Baker.¹ Nellie Baker Sheneman married Fredrick Garfield Hood, son of John Stewart Hood and Sarah Elizabeth Paxton, on 8 June 1910 at Kansas City, Jackson Co., MO. Nellie Baker Sheneman died on 5 August 1962 at Contra Costa Co., CA, at age 76.

     Arvilla Shenk was born on 19 December 1907 at Elida, Allen Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Elmer Jane Shenk and Ina Catherine Swartz.¹ Arvilla Shenk married Amos Huber Bechtel, son of Henry Good Bechtel and Emma G. Huber. Arvilla Shenk lived on 15 April 1940 at East Vincent Twp., Chester Co., PA. She died on 5 April 2007 at Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA, at age 99. She was buried in April 2007 at Vincent Mennonite Church Cemetery, Spring City, Chester Co., PA, Findagrave #77083673.

     Elmer Jane Shenk was born on 18 January 1884 at Cherry Grove, Rockingham Co., VA. He was the son of Isaac S. Shenk and Rebecca Jane Smith. Elmer Jane Shenk married Ina Catherine Swartz, daughter of John S. Swartz and Anna Margaret Coffman, on 1 January 1905. Elmer Jane Shenk lived on 10 January 1920 at 743 Metcalf Street, Lima, Allen Co., OH, worker in truck factory.¹ He died on 27 May 1949 at Pottstown, Montgomery Co., PA, at age 65

Shenk, Elmer J., son of Isaac S. and Jane (Smith) Shenk, was born near Cherry Grove, Va., Jan. 18, 1884; passed away suddenly of a heart attack at his home, Pottstown, Pa., May 27, 1949; aged 65 y. 4 m. 9 d. At the age of about two years he moved to Elida, Ohio, where in 1904 he was baptized and received into the Mennonite Church. On Jan. 1, 1905, he was married to Ina Swartz. In 1920 they moved to Spring City, Pa., living there eight years, after which they returned to Elida. In 1939 they moved to Pennsylvania, living there until the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, 2 daughters (Waneta ­ Mrs. William Hunsberger, Arvilla Mrs. Amos Bechtel), 2 sons Isaac and Wilmer), 11 grandchildren, his stepmother (Sophia Shenk), 6 half brothers and 4 half sisters (Jacob, Ira, Otho, Ras, Noah, Timothy, Mrs. Irvin Diller, and Mrs. John Cusick, all of Elida; Mrs. S. J. Powell, Denbigh, Va; and Mrs. Peter Straman, Barrean Beach, Mich.) Funeral services were held May 31 at the home by Abram Metz and at the Vincent Mennonite Church by Amos and Jacob Kolb. Text: I Sam. 20:3. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

     Waneta Mae Swartz Shenk was born on 20 August 1905 at Allen Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Elmer Jane Shenk and Ina Catherine Swartz.¹ Waneta Mae Swartz Shenk married William J. Hunsberger, son of Jacob Martin Hunsberger and Emma Jane Jones. Waneta Mae Swartz Shenk died on 4 January 2005 at age 99. She was buried in January 2005 at Vincent Mennonite Church Cemetery, Spring City, Chester Co., PA, Findagrave #72718305.

     Wilmer Clyde Shenk was born on 30 August 1916 at Lima, Allen Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Elmer Jane Shenk and Ina Catherine Swartz.¹ Wilmer Clyde Shenk married Hazel Leona Habig, daughter of Phillip Gustave Habig and Helena Augusta Pawlisch, on 23 December 1939.
