Frankfort, Ky, March 6 - Robert Pepper Smith, 38, for many years an employee of the State Highway Department, died early today at St Joseph Infirmary, Louisville. He was a son of the late Col. Thomas L Smith and a grandson of the late Robert P Pepper, noted trotting horse breeder.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Marion M. Smith, his mother, who lives in Lexington, three sisters, Mrs John N Crutcher and Mrs E B Kennedy, Frankfort, and Mrs Victor F Williams, Louisville, and a brother, Thomas L Smith Sr, Washington.

Ronald E. Smith, age 83, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Ronald was born January 16, 1936 in Sterling the son of Harold and Myrtle (Signor) Smith.

He served in the US Army and later married Dianne Curry on February 11, 1961 in Prophetstown. She preceded him in death on November 22, 2005.

He was employed at Lawrence Brothers as a tool and die maker for 25 years retiring in 2002. Ronald was a 30 year member of AA, played in bands for many years and enjoyed woodworking and cars.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Smith and Ken (Peggy) Smith; one sister, Sue Covell; his significant other, Doris Williamson; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents and one step brother, Steve Knaple.

Visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2019 from 2:00 – 3:30 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral service will be Friday at 3:30 PM at the funeral home with Reverend Jeff Coester of The Big Red Church in Sterling officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.

The WW I draft registration of David A. "Windell" indicates that David's nearest relative was son James, and his address was "Ill" (Illinois).
