Albert William Straub, son of William and Mary Straub, was born August 4, 1880, in Muscatine county, Iowa, and met his tragic death in a car accident on the evening of December 2, 1948, at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 28 days.
At the early age of six years, he came with his parents to Cedar county, where he spent the greater part of his life.
On February 20, 1900, he was united in marriage to Lettie Whitmer. To this union were born six children. Mr. and Mrs. Straub resided near Lime City in Cedar County. The last few years they have resided in Tipton.
Mr. Straub always loved people and was always interested in their welfare. In early manhood, he began Christian work and preached at various intervals for thirty-five years. He held pastorates at Mt. Zion, Rochester, Bennett, South Bethel and Buchanan, and several other churches of the vicinity.
Mr. Straub was a member of the Odd Fellows Manitou Lodge No. 8. He served as chaplain of the local Masonic Lodge.
Those preceding him in death, are his father, one sister, Elsie Schminke, and an infant daughter.
Those who mourn his departure are his wife Lettie, one son Elmer Straub of Wilton Junction, and four daughters, Mrs. Albert Martin, Tipton, Mrs. J. Nabholz, Shellsburg, Mrs. Gene Culberson, Tipton, Mrs. Kenneth Jordan, Arcadia, California, 13 grandchildren, 2 brothers, George and Talbert, both of Tipton, his mother Mrs. Mary Straub of Tipton, besides a host of friends.
Funeral services were held in the First Methodist church, Monday December 6th, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Leo G. Wolfe, and assisted by Gordon Smith of Clarence. Interment in the Masonic cemetery.
He was buried in December 1948 at Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Cedar Co., IA, Findagrave #111725385.

Miss Florence E. Straub, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. A. W. Straub, Tipton, and J. W. Nabholz, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Nabholz, were married Tuesday afternoon in the home of the bride's parents. The bride's father read the single ring service, assisted by the Rev. Otis Moore, of the South Bethel Methodist church.
The wedding march, "Bride of the Wind" was played by Miss Eleanor Pfaff, a friend and classmate of the bride. Little Loraine Martin, niece of the bride, was flower girl and carried the ring in the heart of a white lily. The bride was attended by Miss Ruby Welty and Frank Whipple was best man. The bride wore a white satin gown with a veil gathered on each side with orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of pink tea roses, carnations and baby's breath. The bridesmaid wore a flowered chiffon gown with white accessories.
After the ceremony a buffet dinner was served 60 relatives and friends by the Misses Rachel Howard, Eva Bolin and Florence Jorgenson.
The bride is a graduate of the Tipton high school and attended the St. Luke's hospital school of nursing, Cedar Rapids. Mr. Nabholz is a farmer and after a short wedding trip, the new home will be on a farm near Shellsburg.

Catherine Strawn was born on 26 January 1852 at Winnebago Co., IL.1 She was the daughter of John Strawn and Margaret Finn Archer.1 Catherine Strawn died on 2 September 1910 at Maynard, Fayette Co., IA, at age 58.
