Mrs. James E. Kirk

Scott City - Mrs. Della A. Kirk, 93, Scott City, died Thursday at the Parklane Rest Home, here.

Born January 12, 1879, in Arlington, she was married to James E. Kirk, Dec. 25, 1900, in Nickerson. He preceded her in death March 9, 1966. She had lived in Scott City since 1921.

Mrs. Kirk was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Scott City, and the Study and Social Club.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Helen Bastin, Scott City, Mrs. Alden Eberly, Needham, Mass., Mrs. C.C. Mortensen, San Pedro, Calif., and Mrs. Clifton Ottaway, Scott City; three sons, Henry and Tom, Scott City, and Dr. Arthur Kirk, Spokane, Wash; a sister, Golda Blachly, Long Beach, Calif; 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Scott City, the Rev. Orson Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Scott County Cemetery.

Friends may call until service time at the Weinmann-Price Funeral Home, Scott City. The family suggests memorials to the church.

She was buried in January 1972 at Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, Scott Co., KS, Findagrave #18803406.

Lyle Bernice Evans

Private graveside funeral services and cremation will be 2 p.m. Friday at Merced District Cemetery for Mrs. Lyle Bernice Evans, 67, who died Tuesday of a heart ailment.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witnesses, Robert Terrones will be officiating.

Mrs. Evans, born Sept. 2, 1910 in Hornitos, was a bookkeeper for Ely and Nix Pipe Company. She was a resident of Merced for 57 years.

She is survived by her husband, Gomer Evans of Merced; mother, Mrs. Lottie Langley of Merced; two step sons, Joe Evans of Klamath Falls, Ore; three daughters, Mrs. Donna Ferris of San Diego, Mrs. Sue King of Lompoc, and Miss Patricia Evans of Merced; a sister, Mrs. Daisy Egenhoff of Pine Grove; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions to the California Heart Association would be appreciated by the family.

Funeral arraignments are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Chapel.

Dr. Boyd Black

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Dr. Boyd Black, 65, of 2915 Devendale, died Sunday at his residence following an extended illness.

He was a former resident of Vincennes where he was chief pathologist and director of laboratory at Good Samaritan Hospital from 1957 until moving to New Mexico in 1980.

He was born June 27, 1917, son of Andrew and Lilly Keough Black. Recipient of a medical degree from Duke University, he became a pathologist. He had membership in the College of American Pathologists, the American and International societies of clinical pathologists and in the Indiana State Medical Association.

Black had an interest in art, especially in wood sculpture and stone carving.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie; daughters, Rebecca Bringle of Indianapolis and Cynthia M. Black of Los Angeles; sons, David B. Black and John T. Black, both of Houston; sister, Alberta McCandless of Holidaysburg, Pa; brothers John Black of San Clemente, Calif., and Robert Black of Shellsburg, Pa; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in Las Cruces.

Hopkins, on 3 June 1875 at Franklin Co., OH.1 Cassandra A. Black and Joseph F. Wendell were divorced before 1898 Presume they divorced as Cassie was living at the time of his second marriage.
