     Ralph Lester Swigart was born on 22 July 1897 at Bath Twp., Greene Co., OH.¹ He was the son of William Sherman Swigart and Mary L. Hollopeter.² Ralph Lester Swigart married Rachel Frances Trollinger, daughter of Jacob William Trollinger and Susie Mae Finafrock, on 1 February 1928 at Greene Co., OH. Ralph Lester Swigart died on 12 June 1987 at Springfield, Clark Co., OH, at age 89. He was buried in June 1987 at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, Greene Co., OH, Findagrave #113135645.

     Rebecca Alberta Swigart was also known as Alberta Routzong. She was born on 29 April 1897 at Sugarcreek Twp., Greene Co., OH, date from adoption record. She was the daughter of Albert S. Swigart and Ottie May Snyder. Rebecca Alberta Swigart lived between 1900 and 1910 at Xenia, Greene Co., OH.^1,2 She married James Henry Loyd, son of Lewis Leonidas Loyd and America Frances Hampton, in 1915 at Greene Co., OH. Rebecca Alberta Swigart lived in April 1940 at Owaissa Drive, Willoughby, Lake Co., OH.
Note: Rebecca A. Swigart was adopted by H. M. and Anna Routzong and her surname was legally changed to Routzong. Greene County, Ohio Probate Court case 12 NOV 1898, Green County Archives, Box 913, Vol. 3. However, she appears to be listed with her mother, and a brother Harry, in the 1910 census, Xenia Twp., p.1B, in the Andrew Gastiger household. She is also listed as a daughter in the Harry Routzong household, Xenia Ward 2, p.10A.

     Reuben R. Swigart was born on 24 June 1869 at Beavercreek Twp., Greene Co., OH.^2,1 He was the son of Abraham Swigart and Sarah Boyd.¹ Reuben R. Swigart lived in April 1940 at Trebein Road, Beavercreek Twp., Greene Co., OH, census p.4A. He died on 10 June 1952 at Bethel Twp., Clark Co., OH, at age 82. He was buried in June 1952 at Byron Church Cemetery, Byron, Greene Co., OH.

     Robert A. Swigart was born on 29 August 1924 at Montgomery Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Rolla M. Swigart and Mabel A. Alderman.¹ Robert A. Swigart died on 29 August 2005 at age 81 dates per SSDI.

     Rolla M. Swigart was born on 12 April 1899 at Greene Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Ethadeous Wilson Swigart and Elizabeth Coy.¹ Rolla M. Swigart married Mabel A. Alderman, daughter of James P. Alderman and Laura Minerva Dewees, after January 1920. Rolla M. Swigart lived in 1940 at Van Buren Twp., Montgomery Co., OH, census p.15B. He died on 1 June 1966 at Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH, at age 67 dates per SSDI.

     Rosa Anna Swigart was born in October 1864 at Beavercreek Twp., Greene Co., OH.^1,2 She was the daughter of Abraham Swigart and Sarah Boyd.¹ Rosa Anna Swigart married Reuben Albert Miller circa 1886 at Greene Co., OH.² Rosa Anna Swigart lived on 1 June 1900 at Main Street, West Carrollton, Montgomery Co., OH.²

     Rosa N. Swigart was born circa 1923 at Montgomery Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Leonard Swigart and Gertrude A. Brusman.¹

     Rosalie Mae Swigart was born on 1 July 1898 at Bellbrook, Greene Co., OH. She was the daughter of Joseph Marion Swigart and Florence Hencey. Rosalie Mae Swigart married William Stanley Morris, son of William Morris and Ella (?), circa 1934. Rosalie Mae Swigart died on 3 April 1974 at Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH, at age 75.

     Roy W. Swigart was born in August 1884 at Greene Co. (probably), OH.¹ He was the son of William H. Swigart and Martha C. (?)¹ Roy W. Swigart died before 16 April 1910.

     Samuel Swigart was born at Sugarcreek Twp., Greene Co., OH. He was the son of Michael Swigart and Charlotta Swadner.

     Sarah Swigart was born circa 1827 at Sugar Creek Twp., Greene Co., OH, Was 24 when she died in 1851. She was the daughter of Michael Swigart and Sarah Nave. Sarah Swigart married William Tobias, son of Samuel Tobias and Elizabeth Haney, on 24 December 1846 at Greene Co., OH, Ceremony by Rev. D. P. Rosenmiller.¹ Sarah Swigart died before 23 September 1850 at Greene Co., OH.

     Sarah Ann Swigart was born on 25 December 1928 at Clifton, Greene Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Isaac Benjamin Swigart and Florence Jeanette Wing.¹ Sarah Ann Swigart married Earl Edward Morris, son of Thomas Edwin Morris and Lydia Elizabeth Taylor, on 31 December 1949 at Greene Co., OH. XENIA — Mrs. Sarah Ann Reese passed away May 04, 2017, at Elmcroft of Xenia. Sarah was born in Clifton, Ohio, to Isaac and Florence Swigart on December 25, 1928.

Sarah worked at Wright Patterson AFB. She was very dedicated to her work and decided to expand her career and take on the adventure of moving to California to work at Norton AFB. Sarah eventually retired from her life's work there and moved back home to Clifton where she was very active in the community.

Sarah enjoyed her dogs and collected many teddy bears. Christmas was always her favorite time of year, not only because it was her birthday but also because she lived so close to the Christmas wonderland, the Clifton Mill.

Sarah was preceded in death by her late husband Harry Dee Reese, Jr. Sarah is survived by her sister, Nellie (Larry) Gillaugh, nephews and nieces, Garry (Cynde) Gillaugh, Terry (Becky) Gillaugh, Sharon (Jeff) Ewry, and Cheryl (Richard) Hudgell, cousin, Keith (Barb) Swigart, and many great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton and the staff and community of friends at Elmcroft of Xenia for all of their love, care, and support in Sarah's final stages of life. Graveside services will be held at Clifton Cemetery on May 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., with the Reverend Anne Horton.

     Solomon Swigart was born on 17 October 1832 at Sugar Creek Twp., Greene Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Michael Swigart and Sarah Nave.² Solomon Swigart married Rebecca Campbell, daughter of Joseph Campbell and Drusilla Clark, on 11 September 1856 at Greene Co., OH, Ceremony by Rev. J. Botkin

Eleven children born to the marriage, five living as of 1900 census; three living as of 1910 census.^1,3

SPIDER'S BITE CAUSES DEATH
Xenia. Saturday, Feb. 6, 1909. Blood poisoning caused by the bite of a spider resulted in the death of Solomon Swigart, 77, a well-known farmer.

Blood poisoning, which developed from the bite of an insect, caused the death, Friday night, of Solomon Swigart, for years a prominent farmer of Sugarcreek township, at the home of his son, Edward, near Beavertown. He had been ill two weeks. Mr. Swigart was 77 years of age, and born, reared, and spent practically all his life in Sugarcreek township. He was the son of Michael Swigart, a pioneer, who settled on over 600 acres of land in Sugarcreek township in 1812, and whose large family of children was reared to manhood and womanhood in that locality. Mr. Swigart's home until recently was two miles north of Bellbrook. For some time he and his wife, who survives him, had been making their home with their son. There are three children living; Edward, Mrs. Mary Gray and William, the latter of Middletown. The funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Reformed church, of which the decedent was a member, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

REUNION

Of the Swigart, Campell, Tobias and all the families connected thereto, was held in Solomon Swigart's grove near his residence 3 miles north of this place last Thursday, Sept. 8, 1898.

The forenoon was spent in social conversation. The long table was ell supplied with everything good to eat that the heart could wish for and was partaken of by about 100 persons. It was unanimousley decided that the Moon man and his friend Simon Sparks of Dayton ate more chicken than any other two at the table, which fact the attention of those at the table were duly called to.

A nice stage was erected and patriotically decorated and an organ placed thereon. The first thing after dinner was the election of officers, the result of which is as follows: Stephen Campbell, president; Martin L. Tobias, vice president; Joseph Swigert, secretary; Mrs. William Strain, corresponding secretary; John Huston, treasurer.

Committee to prepare program for next year; Misses Beryl Huston, Clara Tobias, and Mary Campbell.

"Michael Swigart my father was born December 3rd, 1785 in Hagerstown, Maryland. He had four brothers and one sister, Peter, Jacob, John, Henry, and Susanna. Peter and Jacob moved to Indiana, bought farms, lived and died there. John died near Zimmerman, O. Henry died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Susanna Engle, known as the Isaac Engle farm in Beavercreek township.

Michael Swigart moved to Ohio in the year 1806, bought the farm now known as the Michael Swigart farm, and the house that now stands on the farm was built in the year 1828. At that day, 70 years ago, it was considered a very fine house. He married Miss Sarah Nave, sister to John Nave. She was born December 20, 1795 and to them were born 8 children, four sons and four daughters, namely: Joel, Michael, David, Solomon, Barbara Huston, Elizabeth Huston, Salome Ewry, and Sarah Tobias. Michael Swigart and his wife now have 45 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren making in all 140 offsprings.

When Michael Swigart moved to Ohio, where the court-house now stands in Dayton was a thicket of hazel brush. He done all his business trading at that day in Cincinnati which required one week to make the round trip. About the year 1840 he married the widow Tobias, the mother of William, Daniel, Samuel Tobias, Polly Ewry and Catherine Haines.

Michael Swigart died in February 1869, in his 84th year."

That bright, beautiful September day will long be remembered by those who attended the first family reunion of these pioneer families, where friendship, sociability and fellowship reigned supreme, and may the annual reunion be held every year in perpetuation of these honored families.

The next reunion will be held at the old Solomon Shank farm in the woods near the Brown school house 3 1/2 miles northwest of Bellbrook.

     Spencer Marshall Swigart was born on 30 April 1908 at Bellbrook, Greene Co., OH. He was the son of Joseph Marion Swigart and Florence Hencey. Spencer Marshall Swigart married Elsie Mills, daughter of John H. Mills and Minnie Oretta Protzman.¹ Spencer Marshall Swigart died on 17 December 1988 at Montgomery Co., OH, at age 80.

     Susan Swigart was born on 8 April 1833 at Beavercreek Twp., Greene Co., OH.^1,2 She was the daughter of John Swigart and Mary Krise.² Susan Swigart married John Hugh Stewart, son of Jacob Stewart and Deborah Estell, on 1 February 1853 at Greene Co., OH. Susan Swigart died on 12 April 1883 at Greene Co., OH, at age 50. She was buried in April 1883 at Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, Greene Co., OH, Findagrave #113829895.

     Susanna Swigart was born on 30 December 1855 at Harshmanville, Montgomery Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Jacob Swigart and Julia Ann Bubp.¹ Susanna Swigart married Joshua E. Burton, son of George Burton and Sarah (?), on 8 August 1876 at Auglaize Co., OH, Nine children born, six living as of the 1900 census.² Susanna Swigart lived on 12 June 1900 at 783 North Jefferson Street, Lima, Allen Co., OH.² She died on 10 November 1932 at Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH, at age 76. She was buried in November 1932 at Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery, Beavercreek, Greene Co., OH.

     Susannah Swigart was born on 17 July 1792 at Maryland.^1,2 She was the daughter of Johann Peter Schweigert. Susannah Swigart married Isaac Engle on 19 April 1810 at Greene Co., OH, Ceremony by Jacob Haines, J.P.³ Susannah Swigart died on 15 January 1861 at Greene Co., OH, at age 68 dates from headstone. She was buried in January 1861 at Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery, Beavercreek Twp., Greene Co., OH.

     Sylvia Lyda Swigart was born on 22 August 1893 at Greene Co., OH.² She was the daughter of William Sherman Swigart and Mary L. Hollopeter.¹ Sylvia Lyda Swigart married Edward Cyphers. Sylvia Lyda Swigart died in 1959.

     Walter L. Swigart was born in October 1850 at Greene Co., OH.^1,2 He was the son of Peter Swigart and Mary Ann Hale.¹ Walter L. Swigart married Mary E. (?) circa 1888.²

     Wilford Marion Swigart was born on 28 November 1896 at Bellbrook, Greene Co., OH. He was the son of Joseph Marion Swigart and Florence Hencey. Wilford Marion Swigart married Verne McClelland Dale on 28 November 1923. Wilford Marion Swigart died on 19 July 1975 at Jamestown, Greene Co., OH, at age 78. He was buried in July 1975 at Silvercreek Township Cemetery, Jamestown, Greene Co., OH.

     William Clark Swigart was born on 20 January 1882 at Greene Co., OH. He was the son of Henry Valentine Swigart and Martha Jane Coy. William Clark Swigart married Cecile M. Richardson on 17 March 1903 at Montgomery Co., OH. William Clark Swigart died on 12 March 1964 at Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH, at age 82.

     William H. Swigart was born in November 1861 at Sugarcreek Twp., Greene Co., OH.^1,2 He was the son of Solomon Swigart and Rebecca Campbell. William H. Swigart married Martha C. (?) circa 1883.² Occupation: Stationary engineer in 1910 at Middletown, Butler Co., OH. William H. Swigart died on 30 May 1929 at Butler Co., OH, at age 67.

     William Sherman Swigart was born in August 1866 at Beavercreek Twp., Greene Co., OH. He was the son of Isaac Swigart and Elizabeth Boyd. William Sherman Swigart married Mary L. Hollopeter, daughter of Benjamin Hollopeter and Margaret E. Hays, on 16 September 1892 at Miami Co., OH. William Sherman Swigart died on 24 October 1949 at Miami Co., OH, at age 83. He was buried in October 1949 at Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Miami Co., OH, Findagrave #82453310.

     Wilson Swigart was born at Sugarcreek Twp., Greene Co., OH. He was the son of Michael Swigart and Charlotta Swadner.

     Swigart was born before 7 August 1820.¹ She was the daughter of John Swigart and Mary Krise.¹ Swigart died after 1830.¹


Note: Some online genealogies show this daughter as Julie Ann Swigart, born 1815, married Henry Zepp and lived at Martinsburg, Berkeley County, Virginia (now WV). Given the transportation and communication technology of the early 1830s in Ohio, I doubt this. John and Mary Swigart were settled at Greene County, Ohio by August, 1820, so that is where this child grew up, at least to 1830 when she was still living and with the parents. It is not likely that she would have known a man from Berkeley County, Virginia, nor have settled so far from her parents. The John and Mary Schweigart family found in the 1850 census of Carroll County, Maryland would be a far more likely candidate family for the Julie Ann who married Henry Zepp. But I have no further evidence one way or the other at this date.      Edward Carl Swiger was born on 7 October 1951 at Alliance, Stark Co., OH. He died on 23 July 1994 at Atwater, Portage Co., OH, at age 42.

     Louisa Jane Swiger was born on 12 February 1851 at Mason Co., IL.^2,1 She married John Smith on 22 August 1872 at Logan Co., IL.³ Louisa Jane Swiger died on 16 August 1924 at Delavan, Tazewell Co., IL, at age 73. She was buried in August 1924 at Prairie Rest Cemetery, Delavan, Tazewell Co., IL, Find A Grave Memorial# 76204012.

     Adam Swigert was born on 26 April 1833 at Greene Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Peter Swigert and Rebecca Tobias.¹ Adam Swigert married Angeline M. Hoskins, daughter of James Hoskins and Mary (?), on 25 December 1861 at Jay Co., IN. Adam Swigert began military service on 23 October 1862 at Camp Sullivan, Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN, Civil War service, enlisted, Private, Co. H, 54th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Capt. W.O.J. Wilson, Cdr., discharged about 26 DEC 1863, Mound City, Illinois.

The 54th Indiana saw action at Chickasaw Bayou near Vicksburg, MS during 26-29 DEC 1862, in the Union forces commanded by Maj. Gen. William Sherman, against Confederate forces commanded by Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton. On 29 DEC Gen. Sherman ordered a frontal result against the Confederate defenses northeast of Vicksburg, which was unsuccessful and resulted in heavy casualties.

He married Eliza Ellen Kelley, daughter of Levi Kelley and Caroline Adams, on 28 May 1871 at Jay Co., IN. Adam Swigert died on 6 August 1916 at Fiat, Jay Co., IN, at age 83. He was buried in August 1916 at Twin Hill Cemetery, Pennville, Jay Co., IN, Findagrave #104968463.

     Anne Howe Swigert was born in 1825. She was the daughter of Philip Swigert and Jane Love Watson. Anne Howe Swigert died on 14 December 1845 at Franklin Co. (probably), KY.
