Josephine was united in marriage to Floyd McDonald on April 29, 1943 in Elm Creek, Nebraska. Five children were blessed to this union; Janet, Robert, Peggy, Dan and Marilyn.
Josephine and Floyd farmed most of their life until Floyd's passing in 1981, and then Josephine continued the farming operation.
Josephine was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed doing embroidery, canning, gardening and attending her children's school activities.
Josephine was an extremely hard worker, but always had time and enjoyed being with her family. When she was an active member of the Altar society, she made banners for the church and she also read books to school kids at Bryan Elementary School in Lexington.
Survivors include her two sons: Robert and wife Patricia McDonald of Bellevue, Nebraska Dan and wife Barb McDonald of Overton, Nebraska.

During her early married life, Margot was active in community service – the YWCA, Scouting, the League of Women Voters, PTA, and the First Congregational Church. She was a founding member of the Blackhawk Curling Club and also enjoyed golf and cross country skiing. When her children were young, Margot painted and drew pictures for them. Margot and Robert were seasoned travelers and visited almost every continent; after he died, she continued to travel abroad. She researched and wrote three books of family history, which she distributed, to family and friends. Margot is survived by four children; son in law; sister; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lovejoy; a daughter, Alexandra Waeffler; her sister, Julia Murray; and a grandson.

Winfield Thom was born in Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin on October 17, 1885, the son of Henry Cassius and Julia Helen (Scott) Thom, esteemed and influential residents of Madison, WI. He next became sales manager for the Hill-Mylrea Company of Wausau for the next seven years and in 1916 accepted a similar position as sales manager for the Langlade Lumber Company of Antigo. In 1921 he severed ties with them and in partnership with J.J. Adams, established his own company, the Adams-Thom Lumber Company of Wausau, which he served as president until the company was dissolved in 1927. For the last three years of his life he was in the real estate and insurance business.
Winfield Thom was married in Wausau on June 28, 1916 to Miss Katharine Ross Bissell, daughter of pioneer lumberman Walter Bissell. Together they had three daughters. Mr. Thom was a member of Elks Lodge #666, the Wausau Club, the Wausau Country Club, the Rotary Club of Wausau and the Northwestern Lumber Club.

Abraham Fike Thomas, whose death was mentioned in our last issue, died Wednesday, March 27, 1912, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Francena Stearns, near Mt. Etna, at about 8 o'clock. He passed away quite suddenly from hemorrhage of the brain. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, at the Dunkard church, conducted by Rev. S. Bucklew, and the body was laid to rest in the Dunkard cemetery. Uncle Abe, as he was familiarly, known, was born In Brandouville, West Virginia, October 15, 1830 to Abraham Michael Thomas and Elizabeth Fike. He grew to manhood in the place of his birth and was there married to Miss Louisa Thomas on the 7th of February, 1855. Alter residing in the old home about five years Mr. and Mrs. Thomas came to Iowa, locating near Mt. Etna. May I8, I860, Mrs. Thomas died. Three children were born to this union, one son who died, and two daughters, Mrs. Francena Stearns and Mrs. Isabel Johnston, both of the vicinity of Mt. Etna. February 21, 1861, Mr. Thomas was united in
marriage with Miss Elizabeth Fees, who passed from this life in 1880. Some three years later, April 9, 1883, Mr. Thomas was again married, the bride being Miss Elizabeth Chaney. To this union, three children were born of whom Mrs. Louisa Beckwith and Jacob Thomas, residing near Mt. Etna survive their parents. The wife and mother died February 14, 1888. Being one of the pioneers of this county Mr Thomas had seen many changes since he located here. He had succeeded in getting a goodly share of this world's goods and at the time of his death he owned about 400 acres of land in Adams county. Mr. Thomas was the first grocer in Mt. Etna, starting and conducting a store there and hauling his goods from Des Moines. He was owner of the mill in Mt. Etna for a time. Mr. Thomas was a gentleman, who made friends with all with whom he came in contact and he was ever ready to lend assistance when needed. He will be missed by many friends.

Mrs. Faith Thomas Parrott died Tuesday morning at her home on Church Street, after a lingering illness that lasted over six months. Mrs. Parrott is survived by two sisters, Mrs. H. C. Gravely and Miss Catherine Thomas of Martinsville and one brother, Frank W. Thomas of Topeka, Kansas.
The deceased who was 65 years of age at the time of her death, was for many years an outstanding leader in all movements, social and patriotic and was prominently known throughout Virginia in W. C. T. U. work at one time serving as the corresponding secretary of the state organization.
She was also regent of Patrick Henry Chapter of the D.A.R and took a prominent part in the work of that organization, not only locally but in the state body. Funeral services were held from the home Wednesday morning. Interment was made in Oakwood Cemetery.
She was buried in June 1928 at Oakwood Cemetery, Henry Co., VA, Findagrave #34131032.
