Funeral was Monday in Vancouver for Brian E. Tichenor, who died of cancer Thursday in a Portland hospital. He was 75.

Mr. Tichenor was born in Tigard, Ore., on April 22, 1914, and had lived in Vancouver the last 11 years. He was a retired lithographer for a graphic arts center. Mr. Tichenor was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Vancouver and a member of the Oregon Society of Artists and Northwest Watercolor Society.

Survivors include his wife, Murel A. of Vancouver; sons, Dennis B. of Junction City, Ore., and Bruce A. of Raleigh, N.C; daughters, Joan Klein of Battle Ground and Lory Miller of Gresham, Ore; brother, Alan of Cumberland, Md; and sister, Marian of Tacoma.

Burial was in Skyline Memorial Gardens, Portland.

Dennis B. Tichenor, age 81, died May 23, 2017 in Albany.

Dennis grew up in Portland, where he attended both Benson Tech and Lincoln High School, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1953.

He enlisted in the Army in 1955, and was part of the BINF 511 Reg. During his enlisted years he spent two and a half years in Germany. Dennis was honorably discharged in 1958.

Dennis married Judith Ann Bartel on March 28, 1958. They were married for 59 years.

Dennis attended Oregon State College and then transferred to University of Oregon where he graduated in 1962.

He began teaching at Junction City High School in 1962 where he also coached football and girl’s track. Dennis retired from teaching at Junction City High School in 1992.

Dennis traveled with his wife, Judy, exploring Oregon and the U.S. and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Dennis also enjoyed, fishing, hunting, camping, collecting old cameras, woodworking, reading, exploring Oregon and the US.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Judith, two daughters, five grandchildren, and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Brian and Alice, and brother, Bruce.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at United Presbyterian Church, 330 SW 5th Ave., Albany.

Ollie E. "Mollie" (Tichnell) Custer, 97, formerly of Coal Mine Road, Barton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing, where she had been a resident.

Born March 3, 1920 in Barnum, WV, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Mary (Nelson) Tichnell.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Custer, daughters, Catherine Marchinke and Virginia "Darlene" Green, a grandson, Donald Marchinke, two brothers and two sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Custer was a member of the Barton United Methodist Church. She worked briefly out of the home, but dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren. Ollie was a kind loving mother and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

She leaves behind her daughters, Ruth Miller of Barton, Helena Gage and husband Ron of Somerton, AZ, a son, Charles "Bugs" Custer and wife Shirley of Barton, seventy three grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless close friends.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Thursday, December 28th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the Boal Chapel on Friday, December 29th at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Sandy Cowan officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

     John B. Tidd was born on 8 April 1896 at Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., IA. He began military service WW I service, U.S. Army, 74 Artillery, 2 APR 1918 - 7 JAN 1919. He married Genevieve Walker, daughter of Jasper Newton Walker and Myrtle Gladys McClure, after April 1930. John B. Tidd and Genevieve Walker were divorced before April 1940. John B. Tidd died on 25 September 1950 at Chicago, Cook Co., IL, at age 54.
