ANNA L. PAYNE
     Another loved one has been called home to rest. “And I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me, ‘Write: Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord’,”
     After several months of patient suffering during which time she kept praying to go Home, the life of Mrs. Anna L. Payne came to a close at the hospital Tuesday, November 30, 1937.
     Anna Lucinda, daughter of William M. and Mary E. Denny Tilford, was born November 27, 1854. and the 83 years of her life have been beautifully lived, making many lasting friendships, loving and doing for others.
     She was an ideal wife and mother and faithful in the church at Olive Branch. She was married to Jacob D. Payne September 30, 1875, with whom she lived happily until his death which occurred 14 years ago.
     To this union were born four children, three sons, William L. of Pekin, Claude B. and Ross L. Payne of Jeffersonville, and one daughter, Mrs. Stella Waisner of Louisville. All are living and good citizens. There also are 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish the memory of this dear mother and grandmother, who will be waiting for them in the home where there is “no death nor pain nor tears”
     Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Olive Branch by Elder W. C. Hancock and E. N. Motsinger. The Eastern Star of Jeffersonville took charge of the services at the grave, after which she was laid to rest in the Olive Branch cemetery.

She was buried in December 1937 at Olive Branch Cemetery, Polk Twp., Washington Co., IN.

Born Margaret Elizabeth Tilman, March 18, 1912, in Charlottesville, VA, the daughter of John Smith Tilman and Nan Wiley Tilman, she attended Virginia Intermont College in Richmond, VA, where she was presented in the May Day Court Cotillion. Following her marriage to Dr. Robert I. Trent, September 3, 1932, Mrs. Trent lived in Baltimore, MD, while Dr. Trent completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Institute, Johns Hopkins University. The family then moved to Oklahoma City, where Dr. Trent began his medical practice. A member of the Junior League of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Trent was responsible for the Freedom Train's tour stop in Oklahoma City and was part of the League's puppeteer troupe. Mrs. Trent created and developed a youth program for fifth, sixth and seventh grade students at Westminster Presbyterian Church that combined Biblical studies, Christian responsibilities and social interaction. She was a co-creator and founder of the Casady Mother's Club and organized the first Casady Carnival, a forerunner of its annual Book Fair. She co-coordinated the first Casady Cook Book. Mrs. Trent was a member of the Oklahoma City Symphony Society, the Oklahoma Art Center, the Oklahoma Science and Arts Foundation and the Oklahoma City Theatre Center. She was a member of All Souls Episcopal Church. Mrs. Trent was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert I. Trent and her mother, Mrs. Nan Wiley MacGregor. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ann W. East, Page, OK; three grandchildren, Ann Harlin Savage, Boulder, CO, John Tilman Savage, Austin, TX, Thomas Halsell Savage, III, San Francisco, CA; and one great grandson, William Leonard Savage, Austin, TX.
