Barzillai Watkins married Ann Maria Womeldorff, daughter of Daniel Warren Womeldorff and Harriet Newell Kerr, on 8 April 1862 at Gallia Co., OH. Barzillai Watkins began military service Civil War service, Co. B and Co. C, 22nd Ohio Infantry, pension application no. 668347 approved for his widow in 1897. He died before 1870 probably in Ohio. Anna Watkins, age 30, was working as a domestic in the household of James W. Robinson in Tazewell County, Illinois as of the 1870 census. Her daughter Carrie was living in her brother George's household in Livingston County.
