     Alvin Arthur Blumhart was born on 13 June 1913 at Bowdle, Edmunds Co., SD; son of Philip and Christina (Walth) Blumhart. He married Doris Helen Johnson, daughter of Isaac Raymond Johnson and Ellen Bea Williams. Alvin Arthur Blumhart died on 10 November 2002 at Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co., CA, at age 89

Passed away in Santa Rosa on November 10, 2002. Dearly beloved husband of Jessica Blumhart of Santa Rosa. Beloved father of Marlene Bertram and her husband William of Santa Rosa and Nanci Montross of Orangeville. Adored grandfather of Laurie Horner, Patricia Reynolds and her husband Robert, Michelle Wight and her husband Steven, and Douglas, A.J. and his wife Hilary and Benjamin Tarpin. Dear brother of Erna Ehlers, Evelyn Sippert, Martha Mueller, Geraldine Young, the late Elsie Loebs and the later Gertrude Bieber. Adored great grandfather of five.

A native of South Dakota, age 89 years. Al was a train dispatcher for Southern Pacific Railroad for 45 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and loved traveling, square dancing and golf. He will be remembered as a loving companion and devoted father.

     Mary E. Blundin was born on 7 June 1872.¹ She was the daughter of Richard A. Blundin and Rebecca Schurr.¹ Mary E. Blundin married Harvey A. Price, son of Abraham G. Price and Sophia Auchy, on 20 December 1892.¹ Mary E. Blundin died on 31 October 1895 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co. (probably), PA, at age 23.¹

Helen Ballmes, 75, of Sterling, died Feb. 7, 1996, in Sterling.

Visitation and viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the Chaney-Walters Funeral Home. Funeral will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at Chaney-Walters Funeral Home with services concluding at the funeral home. Dr. K.D. Bird and Rev. Donovan Notz will officiate.

Mrs. Ballmes was born on June 1, 1920, to Leon and Christine (Notz) Blystone in Manhattan, Kan. She moved to Englewood as a child, where she grew up and attended school. After her schooling, she worked at Montgomery Wards and Gates Rubber Co.

She married Harold W. Welch in 1939. They had two children.

She married Darwin Ballmes on Dec. 24, 1947 in Englewood.

They moved to Sterling in 1948. She worked as a grocery checker at Red Owl and Safeway for 12 years. She also worked as a waitress for several restaurants in Sterling. She retired in the early 1970s.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Englewood, the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW and she was a volunteer for the Senior Citizens at the Logan County Heritage Center.

She is survived by her husband, Darwin, of Sterling; a son, Lamont Welch and wife Linda of Vacaville, Calif; two sisters, Annabelle Olson and husband Rev. Carl of Glendale, Ariz. and Adeline Bird and husband K.D. of Denver; a brother Donovan Notz and wife Jane of Cheyenne, Wyo; an uncle, Chauncey Notz and wife, Eleanor of Denver; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Ryan Welch.
