"Miss Sadie Leah Weidner's home at the time of her appointment as teacher and evangelistic worker in the Girls' School at Sendai, Japan, was Fireside, O. She is a lady of devout spirit and liberal education, having enjoyed the advantage of several educational institutions. After application, she appeared before the Board at its meeting in Allentown, Pa., on March 13, 1900, and was duly elected and commissioned. After arranging for her departure to her field of labor, farewell services were held at Fireside, O., May 11, 1900. She sailed from Vancouver, B.C., on May 28, 1900, and reached Yokohama, Japan, June 11, 1900."¹
