He bequeathed his Psalm Book and 100 acres "whereon he (Valentine) now live" to his son Peter (b. 1753). He willed 100 acres to his son John (b. 1763). 180 & 181 are footnotes (181)-Shenandoah County, Va, Will Book D, p. 250.
Per Fredric Z. Saunders, O'Dell copied the will information from the abstracts of Shenandoah wills, and it is incorrect. The correct date of Valentine's will is 22 March 1770, in Dunmore County. The name Dunmore County was later changed to Shenandoah. It makes a big difference, in that Barbara and Mary were single in 1770 when it was written, but not in 1791 which the published abstract lists.
Johann Valentine Wendel was born circa 31 January 1711 at Framersheim, Palatinate. He was the son of Johann Philip Wendel and Anna Margaretha Thiehl. Johann Valentine Wendel was christened on 1 February 1710/11 at Framersheim, Palatinate; Christening name "Johann Valentin Wendel." He immigrated on 17 August 1732 to Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co. (now), PA; Valentine is presumed to have immigrated with his father and two brothers on the Samuel in 1732 -- although only Augustine's name is clearly shown on the passengers list. He was naturalized on 5 May 1747 at Frederick Co., VA; according to British law, this means he had resided in the colony for at least 7 years.1 He died before 25 October 1792 at Shenandoah Co., VA.
