     Lunetta Frances Wendell was also known as "Nettie". She was born on 5 August 1869 at Quaker City, Guernsey Co., OH.1 She was the daughter of William James Wendell and Susannah A. Jeffery. Lunetta Frances Wendell married Charles H. Lyons, son of John Lyons and Mary A. Marlow, on 2 July 1890 at Guernsey Co., OH, married thirteen years, three living children per 1900 census, but only Earl and Roy were listed on the census.1

Lunetta Frances Wendell lived in 1948 at Cambridge, Guernsey Co., OH, per Charles H. Wendell obit. She died on 23 May 1954 at New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas Co., OH, at age 84

Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Frances Lyons, 84, former Cambridge resident who died in New Philadelphia Monday, will be held at Scott Funeral Home Thursday at 1:30 p.m. by Dr. Lester S. Evans, general presbyter, and Rev. Ray E. Banks, pastor of the church of the Nazarene. Burial will be made in Northwood Cemetery.

Mrs Lyons died at the home of a son, Howard, of 131 Eighth St. N.E. New Philadelphia. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

Born at Quaker City, she was a daughter of William and Susan Jefferies Wendell. Her husband, Charles, died in 1938. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Olive Rebekah Lodge and DAV Auxiliary.

Surviving are five sons, Roy and Earl C. of Wyandotte, Mich. Fred of Clairton, Pa. James and Howard of New Philadelphia; 18 grandchildren and two brothers, Joseph Wendell of Greentown and John Wendell of Waynesburg.

DOWNING, Mary Katherine -- Passed away in her sleep in the early hours of February 13, 2009. Kitty, as she was called by her friends, was born December 22, 1922, in Portsmouth, Ohio. The daughter of Jay Bertrand Wendell and Stella Maris Wagner. She was a World War II veteran. Joining the U.S. Navy where she met and married her husband William E. Downing on July 16, 1945. She is survived by two children, three grandchildren. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Judy Jones, both of whom passed away in 2002. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Joshua Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a contribution be made in her name to the Guide dogs of America, one of her favorite charities.

She was buried in February 2009 at Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster, Los Angeles Co., CA, Findagrave #69609531.
