She lived on 4 April 1930 at 1273 1/2 Sunset Bourlevard, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., CA, cashier, men's furnishings store, surname "Eyrse", marital status "D".2 She married Robert Jerome Snyder on 5 July 1935 at Wee Kirk o' the Heather, Glendale, Los Angeles Co., CA, The Redondo Reflex, Redondo, California, 12 JUL 1935, p.4 (Newspapers.com):
Married At Glendale
Friday evening of last week, at 6:00 o'clock, Betty Eyrse, of Hermosa Beach, daughter of Mrs. Charles Naffziger, of St. Petersburg, Florida, was married to Robert J. Snyder, of Los Angeles. Rev. Fagen, pastor of the Wilshire Christian church, performed the service at the Wee Kirk o' the Heather, in Glendale.
Gaye Provine was maid of honor and wore green organdie with which she carried Talisman roses and white sweet peas. Mrs. Fred V. Nelson and Betty Frederick in yellow and pink organdie frocks, were bridesmaids. They carried roses to match their dresses and sweet peas in contrasting colors.
The bride, given in marriage by A. J. Crawford, and old friend, wore a lovely gown of lace. Her talle veil was of shoulder length and she carried white sweet peas and white roses.
Dr. De Nufrio played "Annie Laurie" before the service and the wedding marches. H. Lay Snyder served Mr. Snyder as best man and ushers were Fred W. Kephart and Kenneth Courier.
A reception followed the ceremony at the home of A. J. Crawford, of Los Angeles. After a honeymoon spent in Honolulu, Mr. and Mrs. Snyder will make their home at 2000 Miramar, Los Angeles.
Bessie May Wendell died on 22 January 1980 at San Bernardino Co., CA, at age 79. She was buried in 1980 at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Riverside Co., CA, Findagrave #3850428.
Note: Between 1920 and 1930, Bessie Wendell became Betty Eyrse. The reason and means of this transition are uncertain -- she is listed on the 1930 census as divorced, which suggests a brief marriage in the 1920s, but I find no evidence of it, or of a man named Eyrse in the Los Angeles area. It is also odd that, with no children from the alleged Eyrse marriage, she retained the surname until she remarried to Robert J. Snyder in 1935. DLB 2021.
