Florence Evelyn Hider, 96, of Marietta, formerly of Parkersburg, died at the Marietta Center.

She was born in Calabogie, Ontario, Canada, on June 17, 1914, and was the daughter of the late William Day and Norah Johnston Wilson. She had been a member of the First Christian Church in Parkersburg.

Survivors include her son, Robert W. Hider; daughter, Carolyn D. Hunter of Marietta; daughter-in-law, Marcia A. Hider of Columbus; grandchildren, Steven Hider, Erin Nowilaty, Jill (David) Peters, all of Columbus, Tara (Michael) Hupp of Marietta, Scott (Annie) Hunter of St. Charles, Ill., and Brent (Angela) Hunter of Scottsdale, Ariz; 11 great-grandchildren; a niece, Dawn Hardy of Michigan; and her caregiver of over 12 years, Robin Barth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Franklin Hider Jr., in 1999; her parents; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be private, with burial in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Humane Society.
