Bobbie W. Reeves
Bobbie Wilson Reeves, 76, 184 Happy Valley Road, Johnson City, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Reeves was a native of Wallins Creek, Ky., and a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Long Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, O.D. Wilson and Kenneth Wilson. Mrs. Reeves was a member of Pinecrest Christian Church. She was a graduate of East Tennessee State University, having received a bachelor's and master's degree in elementary education. She had taught school for the Washington County School System. She taught first and third grades at Boones Creek Elementary and was also a music teacher. Mrs. Reeves was a musician all of her life. She had been a member of the Wilson Quartet and had organized the group Sunshine, which was originally known as the Reeves Trio. She was currently seen weekly on Praise Time. She was also a member of the Board of Christian Missionmen and helped establish several churches.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Cox and Lynnette Poe, both of Johnson City; a son, Phil Reeves, Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Wilson, Roan Mountain, and Joel Wilson, Myrtle Beach, S.C; and a sister, Inez Banks, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will hold a private funeral service for Mrs. Reeves in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. Bret Jones and Mr. Danny Banks, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Randy Carrier. Interment will follow in the Wilson Family Cemetery.
Friends may call at the residence of her son, Phil Reeves, 137 Wedgewood Circle, Elizabethton, from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, or at the residence of a daughter, Lynnette Poe, 4 Primrose Court, Johnson City, at anytime. Active pallbearers will be Chase Reeves, Ben Moore, Danny Banks, Randy Hyatt and Russell Kyte. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders of Sims Hill Christian Church and the Christian churches supporting Praise Time Ministries. He worked for Ida County; was an independent truck driver; worked for the Ida Grove School District as a custodian and bus driver for more than 13 years; and also worked at Morningside Care Center for more than four years.
Mr. Wilson was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ida Grove and IOOF Lodge of Ida Grove.
Survivors include his wife, an daughter-in-law, Delores Wilson, of Ida Grove; two granddaughters, Karen Sue Meister of Sioux City and Connie Lee Boger of Ida Grove; six great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters Thelma John of Grand Junction, Dorothy Miller of Denison and Leta Poindexter of Winston-Salem, N.C., a half-brother, Don Jones, of Jamaica, Iowa; four step-children, Evelyn Havenga of Hampton, Larry Schriever of Frazier Park, Calif., Robert Schriever of Bradford, and Barb Nigg of Crete, Neb; 10 stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
