Barbara Jean Windle died on 17 August 2009 at Marietta, Washington Co., OH, at age 67.

     Barbara Luella Windle was born on 12 July 1927 at Sioux City, Woodbury Co., IA. She was the daughter of William Windle and Bertha Irene Phelps. Barbara Luella Windle married Maj. USAF Harold Sheldon Curry on 4 May 1944 at Dakota City, Dakota Co., NE. Barbara Luella Windle lived on 11 April 1950 at Rantoul, Champaign Co., IL, House trailer.1 She died on 3 December 2003 at Sioux City, Woodbury Co., IA, at age 76 Obituary (findagrave.com):

Barbara L. Windle-Curry, 76, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Kevin Lee of Morningside Lutheran Church E.L.C.A. officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Barbara L. Windle was born July 12, 1927, in Sioux City, the daughter of William and Bertha (Phelps) Windle. She attended school at Central High School in Sioux City.

She married Harold Curry on May 4, 1944, in Dakota City. She traveled frequently throughout the world with her husband, while he was in the U.S. Air Force.

She loved genealogy, researching her roots back to the 15th Century. She discovered her family was descended from the Xavier family, which included the family of St. Francis Xavier. Ironically, she died on the day of the feast of St. Francis Xavier. She was a volunteer in the "Gray Ladies" on the U.S. Air Force base. She was also active in several different activities that were held on the base including, a group named "Three Sparks and a Flame" for the U.S.O. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Martha Washington Chapter. The couple traveled extensively throughout the world, something she enjoyed very much.

She is survived by her husband, Harold of Sioux City; a daughter, Martha Curry of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Thomas William and Carolyn Curry of Raleigh, N.C; two sisters, Nellie Knudson of Sioux City and Wyota Loepp of Idaho; three brothers, Charles Windles, Donald Windle and John Windle, all of Sioux City; four grandchildren, John W. Karr III and his wife, Elisha of Onawa, Iowa, Christopher Thomas Curry of Chapel Hill, N.C., Elissa Norris and her husband, Lt. James Norris, USN, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Diana Marie Curry of Raleigh, N.C; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Liam and Molly Norris; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brian Scott Curry; five sisters, Rosebell Engen, Annie Harris, Bertha Marie Doohen, Cora Carlson and Ruth Rezin; and two brothers, Albert and William Windle.

The family requests that flowers not be sent for the service.

She was buried in December 2003 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Woodbury Co., IA.

PALMYRA....Bernice W. Bashore, 82, of Debra Drive, Palmyra, died Monday, March 17, 2008, in her residence. She was the wife of Jay L. Bashore, to whom she was married to for 61 years. Born in Annville on February 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Hardick Windle. She was employed by Hershey Foods Corp. in the miniature wrapping department, retiring in 1989 and was a 1944 graduate of Annville High School. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, William C. and wife Lynn Shaffer Bashore of Hershey, Gregory L. Bashore, at home; a daughter, Bonnie Sponseller of Scotland, PA; three grandchildren, Kara Sponseller of Richmond, Va; Jamie Bashore Watts, wife of Roger Watts of Fayetteville, N.C., and Josh Bashore of Key West, Fla; and one great-grandson, Addison G. Watts of Fayetteville, N.C. Also surviving is a sister, Carolyn Touchton of Reading.
