     Voy Joe Boots was born on 6 February 1895 at Deer Creek Twp., Pickaway Co., OH.1 He was the son of Stephen Boots and Anna Buskirk.1 Voy Joe Boots married Leota Ellen Schadle on 18 September 1916 at Ross Co., OH, This marriage lasted a few years -- they were together as of the 1920 census, but obviously divorced by the time Voy remarried in 1925. Leota was living with her parents in 1930, marital status "D". No evidence of any children. Voy Joe Boots and Leota Ellen Schadle were divorced before August 1925. Voy Joe Boots married Minnie E. Alkire, daughter of Abraham Lincoln Alkire and Mary Jane Hughes, on 31 August 1925 at Franklin Co., OH, This marriage appears to have broken up by 1940. In the 1940 census, Minnie Boots is listed as married, a domestic servant, but Voy was not listed with her. On his WW II draft registration, Voy gave his sister Theureda Dooley as his emergency contact. No evidence of any children.

Voy Joe Boots lived on 2 April 1930 at 136 Champion Avenue, Columbus, Franklin Co., OH, Insurance salesman.2 He married Frances M. Alkire, Frances was first married to Harold T. Geibelhouse, a WW I veteran, on 18 AUG 1923, Franklin County, Ohio. Harold died in 1928, with no children. Voy Joe Boots died on 6 February 1963 at Doctors Hospital North, Columbus, Franklin Co., OH, at age 68. She was a licensed practical nurse.

She is survived by one son, Robert Panneman of Stillwater, Minn; three sisters: Mrs. Minnie Rambarger of Gartway, Mich., Mrs. Ruth Raymong of Colchester, Ill., and Mrs. Etheil Elschlepp of Oxnard, Calif; one half brother, Edward DeWitt of Creve Coeur, Ill; and four grandchildren.

She was the daughter of John D. Boozel and Cora Ellen Gibbs. Minnie Belle Boozel married George Henry Ranbarger on 15 September 1926 at Burlington, Des Moines Co., IA. Minnie Belle Boozel died on 24 February 1987 at Michigan at age 85. She was buried in February 1987 at Highland Cemetery, Highland, Oakland Co., MI, Findagrave #115918600.

Norma Ann Gillies, 81, a retired nurse and resident of Havre, died Tuesday May 19, 1998, at a hospital of complications due to cancer.

Prayer vigil services will be 7 pm. Thursday at the Holland & Bonine Chapel in Havre. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Calvary cmetery.

Gillies was born Jan. 18, 1917, near Glasgow to Aquilla (Marsh) and Normal Boozel. She was raised in Great Falls and attended school there. She graduated from Great Falls High School and the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. After graduation she moved to Havre and was employed by Dr. Houtz for approximately five years.

On Oct. 25, 1941, she married Clifford E. Gillies in Havre. The couple owned and operated the Model Grocery store in Havre in the early 1950s. She was a nurse at the Havre Clinic for 25 years until her retirement.

Gillies enjoyed her family and her grandchildren. She was a member of the Northern Montana Health Care Volunteers, St. Jude Catholic Church, and St. Cabrini's Circle. Her hobbies were painting, crafts, writing, walking and playing pinochle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford E. Gillies in 1989; and brother, Dale Boozel. She is survived by two sons, Gary Gillies of Havre, and Jerry Gillies of Kalispell; a daugther, Joyce Perszyk of Havre; two sisters, Shirley Zablinsky of Escondido, Calif. and Pearl Pyatt of Helena; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was buried in May 1998 at Calvary Cemetery, Havre, Hill Co., MT, Findagrave #116003375.

Normal Boozel

Normal Boozel, 81, 1130 17th Ave. S., died Thursday in a local convalescent hospital where he had been a patient 18 months.
Born and reared in Marietta, Ill., Boozel came to Nashua with his wife, Aquilla, in 1917 and to Great Falls in 1922. He operated a second hand store and later a clothing store on Central Avenue. He left in 1930 to mine for gold in Meagher County.

After serving in World War II, he worked for a railroad out of Oakland, Calif., and later at tile installation at Billings until retiring and returning to California. He moved here in 1973. His wife died in 1928.

Survivors are a son, Dail B; daughters, Mrs. Ed (Shirley) Zabinsky and Mrs. Robert (Pearl) Pyatt, all of Great Falls; Mrs. Clifford (Norma) Gillies, Havre; Mrs. Harry A. (Rebecca) Leffler, Anchorage, Alaska; a half-sister, Ethel Elchlepp, Oxnard, Calif; and 10 grandchildren.

Private memorial services will be held later. Cremation has taken place.

He was buried in March 1976 at Highland Cemetery, Great Falls, Cascade Co., MT, Findagrave #139339877.
