Windle was born circa 1834 at Missouri Assume the "Virginia" birth location on the 1850 census is an error -- the information given in 1860 by Susan is more credible and consistent with the Missouri birth location of her siblings. (DLB 2005.)^1,2 She was the daughter of George Windle and Susannah Leffler.¹ Susan C. Windle married Lott W. Gregory, son of Jacob Gregory and Lydia Wood, circa 1856 at Wayne Co. (probably), IL.

     Susan E. Windle was born circa 1875. She was the daughter of James Washington Windle and Sarah Ellen Bray. Susan E. Windle married Sidney O. Hutson on 21 May 1893 at Home of J. W. Windle, Crawford Co., MO, Missouri Marriage Record:

Windle and Nancy Lovern.¹ Susan Jane Windle married George Elrod Grubb on 6 January 1878 at Macon Co., MO. Susan Jane Windle died on 13 February 1941 at Hunnewell, Shelby Co., MO, at age 80. She was buried in February 1941 at Union Chapel Cemetery, Hunnewell, Shelby Co., MO, Findagrave #83108509.

     Susan Joanna Windle was born on 21 October 1841 at Iron's Creek, Obey River, Overton Co., TN. She was the daughter of Robert Sevier Windle and Amanda Fitzgerald Harris. Susan Joanna Windle married Felix Harbor Weisnor on 3 February 1859 at Monroe, Overton Co., TN, Ceremony by Judge John Kendall, Esq. Susan Joanna Windle died on 28 December 1925 at Monroe, Overton Co., TN, at age 84.

     Susan Viola Windle was born on 11 October 1886 at Dallas Co. (probably), IA.¹ She was the daughter of George W. Windle and Sarah Martin.¹

     Susanna Windle was born on 11 June 1838 at Fayette Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Peter Windle and Elizabeth Smith. Susanna Windle married Richard Wheeler Tucker, son of Hosea Tucker and Catherine Garrison, on 8 March 1857 at Whitley Co., IN. Susanna Windle died on 10 February 1909 at Kendallville, Noble Co., IN, at age 70. She was buried in February 1909 at Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville, Noble Co., IN, Findagrave #37457566.

     Susanna Catharine Windle was born in 1856 at Shenandoah Co., VA.¹ She was the daughter of John Henry Windle and Ann Heleine.¹ Susanna Catharine Windle married John Franklin Leeper, son of Samuel Leeper and Elizabeth (?), circa 1875 at Hardin Co. (probably), OH.² Susanna Catharine Windle and John Franklin Leeper were divorced before June 1880 at Hardin Co., OH, Catherine and John both indicated marital status "D" as of the 1880 census.² Susanna Catharine Windle married Sylvester A. Swartz, son of George W. Swartz and Sarah Jane Cowgill, after 1 June 1880.

     Susannah Windle was born circa 1798 at Paint Twp., Fayette Co., OH, According to the Fayette County History, Peter Windle came to Paint Twp. in 1795, therefore Susannah would have been born there. However, she consistently reported in the censuses that she was born in Virginia. She was the daughter of Peter Windle and Rachel Wolfe. Susannah Windle married George Wilkin, son of Phillip Wilkin and Anna Layman, on 15 September 1814 at Fayette Co., OH. Susannah Windle married Jacob Saum, son of Frederick Saum and Catherine Caley, on 7 November 1829 at Highland Co., OH.      Susannah Windle was born in 1834. She was the daughter of Thomas Windle and Sarah Borden.

     Temple Windle was born in 1794 at Virginia Birth year from headstone. Censuses suggest a later date -- for example in 1835, Morgan County, Illinois he is listed as between thirty and forty.^2,1 He was the son of Jacob Wendel and Elizabeth Barbara Pfeiffer. Temple Windle began military service between May 1813 and October 1813 War of 1812, Capt. George H. Allen's Infantry Company, 5 Virginia Militia, Ft. Norfolk. He married Phebe Zirkle, daughter of John Zirkle and Eleanor Jones, on 15 September 1815 at Shenandoah Co. (probably), VA. Temple Windle lived in 1820 at Strasburg, Shenandoah Co., VA, Males:

He married Sarah Windle on 23 January 1848 at Macon Co., MO, The original marriage record has a severe smudge over the month, and an apparent error on the year written. Tails on the letters of the month suggest "January", and the context of the entry and the recorder's date of certification of 1 FEB 1848 all support a January, 1848 marriage date.

Temple Windle died on 16 July 1861 at Macon Co., MO. He was buried in July 1861 at White Oak Cemetery, Ethel, Macon Co., MO, Formerly known as Windle Cemetery, 2 miles south of Ethel on the west side of highway 149. Findagrave #70379423.

"TEMPLE WINDLE, The first record we have of Temple Windle is in the 1820 census in Shenandoah County, Virginia, in which he lists in his household, one male under ten, two males 16-26, two females under ten and one female 16-26 plus two free colored. In the 1830 census he is listed Botetourt County, Virginia and in 1840 he is listed in Macon County.

September 15, 1815, Temple Windle married Phebe Zix (sic) in Virginia. To this union six children were born; George, Samuel, Gabriel, William, Elizabeth, and Ellen. Phebe was born in 1794 in Virginia and died September 25, 1861 in Missouri.

Windles, sometimes spelled Wendell, had been in Virginia since 1732. Windles were evidently of German descent since many of their Bibles and other records were written in German. Temple was born in 1794 and grew up in Virginia. He served in the War in 1812 in Regiment 5, Virginia Militia commanded by Lieutement Colonel Armstead T. Mason. Temple Windle married Sarah McConnell December 22, 1847. To this union two children were born: Mary and Martin. Temple also made Sarah McConnell Cherry, step daughter from Sarah's first marriage, a legal heir. Temple Windle died July 16, 1861 and Sarah died October 24, 1902. They are buried in White Oak Cemetery, formerly known as Windle Cemetery.

     Temple Windle was born on 23 June 1823 at Rockingham Co., VA, date calculated from headstone inscription "61Y's 6M's & 24 D's."^2,1 He was the son of Temple Windle and Phebe Zirkle. Temple Windle married Sarah Ann Jessup, daughter of Daniel Jessup and Ann Seward, on 23 November 1847 at La Porte Co., IN, 3 children born to the marriage, 2 living as of 1900, per census info.^1,3 Temple Windle lived in 1850 at New Durham Twp., La Porte Co., IN, carpenter, surname spelled "Wendell."² Occupation: Livery Operator in 1860 at Valparaiso, Porter Co., IN.¹ He died on 16 January 1885 at Valparaiso, Porter Co., IN, at age 61. He was buried in January 1885 at Maplewood Cemetery, Valparaiso, Porter Co., IN, Findagrave #112259307.

     Thelma Windle lived at Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., CA. She was born on 4 March 1905 at Dighton, Lane Co., KS. She was the daughter of James Temple Windle and Sarah Jane Owen. Thelma Windle married Cyril B. Rhinehart on 22 May 1924.

     Thelma Windle was the daughter of William Francis Windle and Mary Gladys Cole. Thelma Windle died before 2004.

     Thelma Windle was born in August 1899 at Falls City, Richardson Co., NE.¹ She was the daughter of Grant L. Windle and Clara M. Culp.¹

     Theodore Windle was born circa 1846 at Winchester, Frederick Co., VA.¹ He was the son of James Alfred Windle and Roxalene Burns Harmer.¹

     Theodore Windle was born circa 1902 at Pulaski Co., Va. She was the daughter of Theodore A. Windle and Dorcas Viola (?)

     Theodore A. Windle was born on 15 October 1860 at Pulaski Co., VA.^1,2 He was the son of John William Windle and Mary Lucinda Clark.¹ Theodore A. Windle married Dorcas Viola (?) circa 1885 at Pulaski Co. (probably), VA, In 1910 census, indicated she was the mother of 8 children, 7 still living.² Theodore A. Windle died on 19 August 1934 at Loudon Co., TN, at age 73 Tennessee death certificate #18529. He was buried in August 1934 at Robeson Cemetery, Philadelphia, Loudon Co., TN.

     Theodore Sylvan Windle was born on 31 January 1878 at Madison Co. (probably), IN.^1,2 He was the son of Thomas Windle and Lavinia Florence Davis.¹ Theodore Sylvan Windle married Evangeline Lukens on 15 November 1899 at Madison Co., IN.² Theodore Sylvan Windle married Edith Magnolia Campbell on 22 July 1922 at Indiana, Edith was first married to Carey Bronnenberg in 1897, and had a daughter Fay born about 1899. Theodore Sylvan Windle married Clara L. Johnson before April 1940. Theodore Sylvan Windle died on 28 January 1946 at age 67. He was buried in 1946 at Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton, Madison Co., IN, Findagrave #81446445.

     Thomas Windle was born circa 1801 at Shenandoah Co., VA.¹ He was the son of Johannes Windle and Rebecca Lambert. Thomas Windle married Sarah Borden, daughter of George Borden and Sophia Haun, on 9 September 1824, bondsman: George Windel.

     Note: Thomas' mother died when he was four, and he was adopted and raised by his uncle Thomas Coffee Windle, so he took the Windle surname. Thomas Windle was born on 8 October 1878 at Kansas 1900 census shows 1875.¹ He was the son of James R. McClarney and Leeann Frances Windle. Thomas Windle married Minnie (?), daughter of Thomas (?) and Phyllis (?), on 23 April 1898 at Kansas. Thomas Windle lived on 18 June 1900 at Sherman Street, Springfield, Greene Co., MO, Machinist.¹ He lived on 25 April 1910 at 1605 North Elm Street, Pittsburg, Crawford Co., KS.² He died on 22 November 1933 at Oklahoma at age 55.

     Thomas Windle was born on 29 August 1852 at Madison Co., IN.^2,1 He was the son of Christopher W. Windell and Mary Williams.^1,2 Thomas Windle married Lavinia Florence Davis, daughter of John Smithson Davis and Nancy Ann Scott, two children born, both living as of 1910 census.³ Thomas Windle died on 22 September 1899 at age 47.⁴ He was buried in September 1899 at Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton, Madison Co., IN, Findagrave #81446831.

     Thomas Allen Windle was born circa 1846 at Virginia.^1,2 He was the son of William Windle and Cynthia Ann Parker.¹ Thomas Allen Windle married Matilda Ann Parker, daughter of Henry Harvey Parker and Margaret Goddard, in 1866 at Greenbrier Co. (probably), WV, Nine children born, seven living as of 1900 census.^2,3 Thomas Allen Windle died in 1883.

     Thomas C. Windle was born circa 1912 at Oklahoma. He was the son of Thomas Gillespie Windle and Dora H. Ryan.

     Thomas Coffee Windle was born on 8 March 1857 at Overton Co., TN. He was the son of Samuel Washington Windle and Elizabeth Pyrtle. Thomas Coffee Windle married Elizabeth Emily Sloss on 18 April 1880 at Crawford Co., MO, Ceremony performed by S. W. Windle, J.P.

No natural issue, but they adopted nephew Thomas McClarney and raised him -- he was afterward known as Thomas Windle. Thomas Coffee Windle lived circa 1907 at Homer, Claiborne Par., LA. He died on 23 August 1941 at Oklahoma at age 84.

     Thomas Cole Windle was born on 5 April 1891 at Pickens Co., AL. He was the son of Thomas Sidney Windle and Mathe Emma Jennings. Thomas Cole Windle married Minnie Estelle Pate, daughter of Samuel Pate and Maggie Bridges, circa 1913. Thomas Cole Windle died on 6 May 1950 at Carrollton, Pickens Co., AL, at age 59.

     Thomas Erwin Windle was born in 1922 at Pickens Co., AL. He was the son of Elbert Hudson Windle and Bessie Maude Craft.

     Thomas F. Windle was born in July 1882 at Macon Co., MO.¹ He was the son of James Lundy Windle and Sarah Addie Baldwin. Thomas F. Windle married Fina Porter on 11 November 1902 at Macon Co., MO, Marriage book 8, p.56. Thomas F. Windle died on 15 October 1923 at age 41.

     Thomas Gillespie Windle was born on 21 February 1862 at Pickens Co., AL. He was the son of William Mitchell Windle and Mary Elizabeth Gillespie. Thomas Gillespie Windle married Dora H. Ryan on 14 August 1889 at Henrietta, Clay Co., TX. Thomas Gillespie Windle lived in 1920 at Ninnekah Twp., Grady Co., OK, Census p.196A. He died on 26 November 1926 at age 64. He was buried in November 1926 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, Phoenix, Maricopa Co., AZ.
