Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Meyers Mark of Cedar Rapids; a son, Matthew Zach of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Audra, Ann, Leif, Kallie, Angela, Andrew and Dillon; six great grandchildren, Alivia, Audriana, Amira, Alysia, Layla and Addison; two sisters, Kathleen Sexton and Judy Phillips Robert both of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Marvin Zach Pat of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Kay, and two daughters, Jean Zach and Diane McMurrin.
Services: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. William Harnish will officiate.

Got Her Wish
A Cedar Rapids woman was arrested Monday on charges of intoxication, interfering with official acts and criminal mischief after she insisted that police arrest her along with a friend.
Events began when police were called to the Joseph Mara residence, 921 16th Ave. SE, on a complaint of damage to a wooden fence. According to the police report, two men were sliding on ice in a driveway adjacent to the Mara fence, crashing into the fence and breaking it.
Police arrested Donald N. Cantonwine, 18, of 1134 10th St. SE, on charges of intoxication and criminal mischief. The second man, unidentified, fled in a car.
In Cantonwine's company was Jean Marie Zach, 19, of 1026 15th St. SE. The report said that as officers placed Cantonwine under arrest, Zach told officers she too was intoxicated and should be arrested.
She then leaned against the back door of the police car to prevent officers from putting Cantonwine into the car. Zach refused to move away from the door and was subsequently placed under arrest.
Police said she physically resisted arrest and had to be forced into the back seat of the vehicle for transportation to the Linn jail.

Zahn Services Held Monday
Funeral services for Louis Zahn, pioneer businessman of northwestern Oklahoma, were at 2 p.m. Monday in the Sharon Methodist church with Rev. J. C. Watson, pastor of the church officiating. Burial was in the Fargo cemetery with final Masonic rites conducted by Charity Lodge No. 254, AF&AM.
Mr. Zahn died early Saturday morning at his home in Sharon following a heart attack. He was born Aug. 1, 1868 in Morgan county, Ill. He came to Oklahoma in 1895 and settled in Kay county. In 1903 he moved to Fargo and established the Fargo Grain and Supply company. He operated the business until 1931 when he sold out and moved to Sharon where he operated the Zahn Grain company until his death.
In 1889 he was united in marriage to Minnie Starr who preceded him in death. On Dec. 25, 1931 he was united in marriage to Carrie E. Conway of Sharon, Okla. He was a member of the Methodist church.
He was a charter member of Charity Lodge No. 252, AF&AM at Fargo and recently received his 50 year membership pin.
Survivors include his wife Carrie of the home in Sharon, one daughter Valma Zahn, Gage; one son, Vernal, Fargo; also one step-daughter Levira C. Canaday, Los Angeles, and two step sons, Theo. J. Conway, Eagle Point, Ore., and Harold C. Conway, Compton, Calif; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were by the Byron Mason Funeral Home.

In addition to farming and ranching, Mr. Zahn served on various federal and state boards and commissions pertaining to agricultural activities.
For many years he and his father owned and operated Zahn and Son Grain and Lumber Co. Until his illness he had been an active member of Woodward Methodist Church, serving as deacon and later as lay minister. He was a Mason and Pat Worshipful Master of Charity Lodge 254. He was president of Blue Ridge Telephone Co. for many years, was a past president of his Chamber of Commerce and of Woodward Memorial Park. He was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his daughter here, Mr. Zahn is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Harold Weir, Portland, Ore; five grandchildren, Mrs. Mary Beth Roberts Ellis of Metairie, La., Mrs. Nancy Anna Roberts Swann, Shreveport, Mrs. James Benson, Alva, Okla., Captain Richard Young and Suzahn Weir, and two great grandsons and a granddaughter.
Interment will be at Fargo Memorial Park, Monday at 2 p.m. under the direction of Stetcher Funeral Home of Woodward, Okla.

In addition to his daughter here, Mr. Zahn is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Harold Weir, Portland, Ore; five grandchildren, Mrs. Mary Beth Roberts Ellis of Metairie, La., Mrs. Nancy Anna Roberts Swann, Shreveport, Mrs. James Benson, Alva, Okla., Captain Richard Young and Suzahn Weir, and two great grandsons and a granddaughter.
Interment will be at Fargo Memorial Park, Monday at 2 p.m. under the direction of Stetcher Funeral Home of Woodward, Okla.
He was buried in May 1971 at Fargo Cemetery, Fargo, Ellis Co., OK, Findagrave #182466675.

She is survived by four children and spouses, Bill and Madeleine Mernik; Tammy and Wayne Chisenhall; Bruce and Annette Mernik; and Debby and Dave Dalton; ten grandchildren, Shelly, Bill, Mark, JB, Gar, Tammy, Marcy, Kerry, Sherry, and DJ; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Marybell Mernik are Monday, May 12, 2003 at 2pm from Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne, AL with burial in Memory Gardens of Fairhope. Mrs. Mernik will lie in state from 1pm until 2pm before service. In lieu of flowers, as a true animal lover, Mom would have liked contributions to be made to the Baldwin County Humane Society.
