John George Frederick Brand, who died at the Fremont hospital on Saturday evening following a surgical operation for abdominal tumor was born in Wurtenberg, Germany, on October 10th, 1840. At the tender age of six years he emigrated to America with his parents and temporarily moved to Washington, Ill. He was married to Miss Caroline Slack on January 7th, 1864. To this union nine children were born, three of whom preceded their father to the great beyond. The mother of these children died on June 25, 1880. On September 2, 1880, he was married to Miss Nancy Eggman. Six children were born to this union of whom two beside the mourning widow survive their father.

He moved to Nebraska with his family in 1883 and established his residence in Fontanelle where by his faithful and honest endeavors he has prospered up to the time of his death. The close surviving relatives are his widow and the following: Mrs. Lee Johnson, Ames, Neb., George Brand, Tekamah, Neb., Henry, Edward and Frank Brand, of this community, Robert Brand, Arlington, Mrs. Mathilda Richards, of Fremont, and Mrs. Rosa Jensen, of Bridgeport, Neb. Besides the children there are 38 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The funeral services were held from the local Lutheran church on Tuesday afternoon with Rev. F. C. Schuldt officiating and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the cemetery near the church.

Brand and Amanda Helen Kissner.¹ Helen Annalouise Brand married Dr. Russell Stanfield Blanchard, son of Albert Foster Blanchard and Ethel Lenora Stanfield, in 1934. Helen Annalouise Brand died on 18 July 2002 at Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., MN, at age 90.

     Lillian Brand was born on 3 April 1863.¹ She was the daughter of William Brand and Ann Elizabeth Davis.¹ Lillian Brand married Benjamin Price Ketcham, son of Rev. Frederick Ketcham and Elizabeth Price Brower, on 14 October 1886 at Charlottesville, VA, Ceremony by Rev. John B. Turpin

     Mary Jane Brand was also known as "Jennie". She was born on 11 September 1865 at Illinois. She was the daughter of Fredrick George Brand and Caroline Slack. Mary Jane Brand married Levi Johnson in 1886. Mary Jane Brand died on 30 September 1952 at age 87. She was buried in October 1952 at Ridge Cemetery, Fremont, Dodge Co., NE, Findagrave #136630487.

     William Brand married Ann Elizabeth Davis.¹

     Lela R. Brandebery was born on 12 April 1900 at Crook Co., WY.¹ She married Cecil Raymond Ellerman on 1 June 1920 at Pennington Co., SD. Lela R. Brandebery died on 26 December 1994 at age 94. She was buried at Black Hills Natiolnal Cemetery, Sturgis, Meade Co., SD, Findagrave #619797.

     Emma R. Brandenberg was born in January 1860 at Indiana.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Brandenberg and Eliza Foust.² Emma R. Brandenberg married Ralph Blake, son of Joseph P. Blake and Ruhama Williams, on 20 September 1877 at Henry Co., IN.

     Thomas Brandenberg was born circa 1833 at Maryland.¹ He married Eliza Foust on 3 September 1854 at Rush Co., IN.¹

     Amos Steward Brandenburg was born circa 1834 at Indiana.¹ He married Lithula Blankenbaker in May 1861 at Harrison Co., IN.

(probably), IN, or 1887 per other genealogies.¹ He was the son of William Reader Brandenburg and Delilah Ellen Davis.¹ Amos Steward Brandenburg married Maybell Kennedy, daughter of George R. Kennedy and Anna E. (?), circa 1913.¹ Occupation: Fireman on Steam Railroad in 1920.² Amos Steward Brandenburg lived in January 1920 at Spring Garden, Jefferson Co., KY.² He died on 13 March 1923 at Bullitt Co., KY, at age 36.

     Amos Steward Brandenburg Jr. was born on 21 July 1914 at Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY.¹ He was the son of Amos Steward Brandenburg and Maybell Kennedy.¹ Amos Steward Brandenburg Jr. married Crittie Mae Snyder, daughter of William Noah Snyder and Hattie May Watkins, on 21 January 1937 at Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. Amos Steward Brandenburg Jr. died on 27 November 1976 at Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN, at age 62.

     Arthur Steward Brandenburg was born on 11 September 1938 at Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. He was the son of Amos Steward Brandenburg Jr. and Crittie Mae Snyder. Arthur Steward Brandenburg died on 11 January 2002 at Richardson, Dallas Co., TX, at age 63 dates per SSDI.
