     Dr. Murray Peabody Brush was born on 17 April 1872 at Zanesville, Muskingum Co., OH.1 He was the son of Edwin J. Brush and Judith Dodge Peabody.1 Dr. Murray Peabody Brush married Charlotte M. Kinney on 14 June 1899 at Rome, Oneida Co., NY. Dr. Murray Peabody Brush lived on 19 April 1910 at 1019 North Calvert Street, Baltimore, MD, teacher, university.2 He died on 14 November 1954 at Ventura Co., CA, at age 82

Hurt In Accident, Dr. Brush Dies

Dr. Murray Peabody Brush, former Johns Hopkins University dean and onetime headmaster of the Jacob Tome Institute at Port Deposit, died early this week following and automobile accident near Ojai, Cal., where he has been living with his son, Murray P. Brush, Jr. He was 82.

Dr. Brush received hi Ph.D. in Romance languages at Hopkins in 1898, after which he became a language instructor at the university. In 1912, he became full professor, and was dean of the faculty from 1917 to 1919.

At Tome From 1919 To 1932

He left Hopkins in 1919 to become director of the Jacob Tome Institute until 1932, when he resigned to become headmaster of the California Preparatory School for Boys at Ojai. He retired from the school in 1949, and he and Mrs. Brush lived with their son.

Besides his son, Dr. Brush is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charlotte Kinney Brush, sister of the late S. Wardell Kinney, former headmaster of Gilman School.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edward Cudahy, of Chicago; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Cause of death: Automobile accident near Ojai, California.

JESSE BRUSS, MAIL MAN 36 YEARS, DIES

Jesse Bruss, 78, a retired Greenville city mail carrier and former Darke county school teacher, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday (June 3, 1957) at the Kester rest home, five miles east of here (Greenville, Ohio), after a lingering illness.

Mr. Bruss carried mail on city routes for 36 years prior to retiring in 1947. Earlier he was a teacher for several years in one and two-room schools in Butler township, Darke county, where he was born and reared. His birthplace was at what is known as Bruss' corner, which derived its name from his family.

He had resided at 509 Sweitzer street in Greenville, and for more than forty years and was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church here.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl; two sons, Herman of Columbus and Lowell of Greenville; a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Ober of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ed Bruss of Dayton and four sisters, Mrs. Lucy Oda and Mrs. Mary C. Tamplin, both of Piqua, and Mrs. Mina Baker and Mrs. Kemme Slonaker, both of Greenville.

Services will be held Thursday at two p.m. at the Zechar funeral home here with the Rev. A. Kenneth Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Jefferson cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday.

He was buried in June 1957 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fort Jefferson, Darke Co., OH.

Ober, Marilyn, 92, of Springfield, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 in her residence. She was born in Greenville, Ohio on April 13, 1921 the daughter of Charles Jesse and Leona Pearl (Sebring) Bruss. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at Ethan Allen Manor and the K of P Home. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Carlisle and enjoyed playing Tripoly with her friends. Survivors include her seven children and spouses, John C. Ober, Peg (Larry) Brake, Joe (Marcie) Ober, Mark (Mary Carney) Ober, Marianne Ober, Doug (Colleen) Ober and Tom (Kristen) Ober all of Springfield; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1995 and her son, James in 1996. The family would like to thank Community Mercy Hospice for all their care and support. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
