Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Betty J. Cain of Buhl, daughter of Mrs. Mabel Fait of 1935 Warm Springs Avenue, and Gerald Hopkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hopkins of Buhl, in a candle-light wedding ceremony performed by the Rev. Hartzell Cobbs in the First Christian Church.
The bride chose a white crepe afternoon dress with pastel pink and blue accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. Her maid of honor was her sister-in-law, Mrs. Deward Cain of Buhl, who wore a pink crepe dress and a corsage of white carnations. She was given in marriage by her brother, Deward Cain.
The best man was Gordon Carlson of Buhl. The usher was Dick Thomas, also of Buhl. Mrs. Hopkins, mother of the bridegroom, chose a light blue crepe dress with white accessories and a corsage of white carnations. The bride's mother wore a teal blue street dress with black accessories and a corsage of red rosebuds.
Mrs. Duane Mahochick of Buhl sang "Because" and "Always," accompanied by Mrs. Ada Huston, also of Buhl.
A reception was held in the Owyhee hotel. Mrs. Deward Cain cut the marital cake. Mrs. Roy Pearson of Boise, poured, and Mrs. Everett Hustead of Buhl, served. The bride is a graduate of the Buhl high school and attended the University of Idaho at Moscow for one year. The bridegroom was graduated from Buhl high school and served as an army engineer for five years.
The couple will live in Buhl where he is employed by the Amalgamated Sugar Company.

Edna Petete, 406 N. Walnut died in St. Anthony's Hospital in Okla. City. Sunday May 11. She was 77. She was born in Centerville, Arkansas, January 2, 1898. She came to Hughes County, at 15 and had lived here since that time. She was married to Emmit Leroy Petete in Dec. 1914 in Holdenville. He preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1964. She is survived by five sons, Hugh Petete, Wichita Falls, Texas, Horace Petete, Holdenville, Harold Petete, Okla. City, Spencer Petete, Holdenville, Theo Petete, Okla. City; by one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Collis, Wewoka; by fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Gussie Horn, Holdenville; and by a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Capital Heights Baptist Church. Rev. Euel Bowen will officiate, assisted by Rev. Mack Peercey. Burial will be in Holdenville Cemetery.

JAMES D. CAIN
James D. Cain, 68, of Pleasant Hill, MO, passed away October 21, 2003, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Friday, October 24, at Park Lawn Chapel, Kansas City, MO; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. The will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Jim was born and raised in Kansas City, MO, and attended Northeast High School. He was very active in sports as a young man and played for a short period of time in the Brooklyn Dodgers Organization. Jim was an Army veteran. He also had an interest in American History and could discuss in detail any period. He worked 16 years for the Kansas City Terminal Railroad, as did his father and brother. He retired after 26 years from the Gas Service Company, later known as MGE.

Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Kirsten Cain, brother, John Cain, and sister, Nadine Trapnell. He leaves his wife, Charlene, of the home; two sons, Kelly Lambert of Kansas City and Christopher of the home; three grandchildren, Kirsten Cain and Michael Routh of Blue Springs, MO, and Brandon Patience of Sunrise Beach, MO; sisters, Buddie Anderson of Pleasant Hill, MO, and Helen Brooks of Osceola, AR; sister-in-law, Norma Cain of Kansas City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved and will be missed by friends and family.

SOUTH SIOUX CITY – Michael L. Cain, 54, of South Sioux City died Monday, July 10, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Ring officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Michael was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Sioux City, the son of Lloyd A. And Mabel R. (Rich) Cain. He was a lifelong resident of South Sioux City and was employed as a commercial truck driver for P.C.I. Inc.

He married Stephanie J. Stingley on Jan. 25, 1972 in Elk Point, S.D.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie; a son, Shane of South Sioux City; three daughters, Kelli and her husband, Bill Bass of Dakota Dunes and Misty and Courtney, both of South Sioux City; his mother, Mabel Cain of South Sioux City; three brothers, Merton Ewing and John and his wife, Shelly Cain, all of South Sioux City and Charles Cain of Walthill, Neb., five sisters, Fern Reese of Washington, Gloria Andrews of Oregon, Judy Barrett of Sioux City, Patty and her husband, Ken Adair of Correctionville, Iowa, Sheila King of Walthill, Neb; and two granddaughters, Baylie and Grace Bass.

He was preceded in death by his father; and three brothers, Roger, Ricky, and Cleo.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Rogers, Rick and Tim Merchant, Gary Derby, Lee Stansberry and Tom Zastrow.

He was buried on 13 July 2006 at Dakota City Cemetery, Dakota City, Dakota Co., NE.
