     Landon Duffield Carter was born on 24 June 1816 at Elizabethton, Carter Co., TN. He was the son of Alfred Moore Carter and Matilda May Wendel. Landon Duffield Carter married Emily P. Black on 2 September 1835 at Maury Co., TN, ceremony by Wm. Eagleton, V.D.M.

Landon Duffield Carter lived in 1840 at Civil District 7, Carter Co., TN, two females under age 5, plus his wife age under 30.¹ He married Deborah Ellis on 1 February 1846 at Carter Co., TN, ceremony by Isaac Tipton, J.P. Landon Duffield Carter lived on 7 September 1850 at Civil District 8, Carter Co., TN, with wife "Debitha", son William, and a relative, Mary Carter, age 73, relationship not known.² He married Margaret Woods Rockhold, daughter of William Rockhold and Harriet Netherland, after 7 September 1850, Margaret was single and living with her parents as of the 1850 census, Sullivan County, TN. In the name of God Amen; I Landon Carter of the County of Carter and State of Tennessee, being in old age and sound mind feeling the uncertainty of human life, And being desirous of settling my worldly affairs and directing how the Estate with which it has pleased God to bless me with Shall be disposed of after my death, Do make this my last will revoking all former wills by me made in any way.

First I commend my Spirit to God, who gave it and who doth all things will.

Second, And my worldly Estate Real and Personal that I have at my death, I devise and bequeath and dispose thereof in the manner following to wit --

Third -- My will is that I have a respectable burial and that all my just debts be paid as soon as convienient.

4th I give to my beloved wife Rebeca Carter my farm of about 79 acres where I now live during her life. Then to go to my youngest daughter Lutie Belle Carter.

5th I will my farm known as the Clemins farm in the 8th Civil Dist. of Carter County Tenn. to be divided or the proceeds of the same equal between my four children W. J. & J. G. Carter Emma Chambers and Hester Bradly.

6 I will that to my wife Rebeca Carter the amt of Personal Property allowed her by law as homestead and dower, and if any other Personal Property remain after she gets this amt -- and the expense of my will is settled Then to be equally divided between my four children W. J. & J. G. Carter Emma Chambers and Hester Bradly.

7th I will that if I have any property not mentioned in this will at my death that it be equally divided between my four heirs W. J. & J. G. Carter Emma Chambers and Hester Bradly.

8th I hereby appoint J. J. McCorkle as the Executer of this my will and estate as the law directs.

He died before 29 May 1896 at Carter Co., TN, Receipts in the probate case file indicate that some of his heirs were provided with cash by the executor at the end of May 1896.

     Louis Edgar Carter Jr. was born circa 1923. He was the son of Louis Edgar Carter Sr. and Nora Alice Hershey. Louis Edgar Carter Jr. died on 10 April 1924 at Everett, Snohomish Co., WA.

     Louis Edgar Carter Sr. was born on 14 December 1882 at Elberton, Whitman Co., WA. He married Nora Alice Hershey, daughter of Isaac Long Hershey and Clara Delvina Metsker, on 17 April 1913 at Colfax, Whitman Co., WA. Louis Edgar Carter Sr. lived on 7 April 1930 at Port Susan Precinct, Snohomish Co., WA, farming.¹ He died on 3 April 1961 at age 78.

     Louise Carter was born on 27 August 1906 at Indiana. She married Herman Henry Roerk, son of Frank Miller Roerk and Susanna Jackson. Louise Carter died on 21 July 1999 at age 92. She was buried in July 1999 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN.

     Madelyn L. Carter was born on 13 May 1920. She married Jerome Burton Neal, son of Jerome Earl Neal and Bernice Strickler, on 27 July 1946 at Jackson Co., MO. Madelyn L. Carter lived between 1988 and 1992 at Nashville, Davidson Co., TN.

     Marion Greer Carter was born on 24 February 1935 at Howard Co., TX. He was the son of Joseph George Carter Jr. and Mary B. Baker. Marion Greer Carter died on 28 July 2017 at Glasscock Co., TX, at age 82

Marion Greer Carter 82, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at his home in Glasscock County.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday August 2, 2017 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment will follow at the Garden City Cemetery in Garden City.

He was the son of Joe Carter and Mary Schafer Carter, both from pioneer families in Glasscock County.

Mary died in childbirth and Marion was raised by his grandmother, Pearl Baker and his great grandparents, Christ and Susan Schafer.

The ranch where he died was the same one which he had lived all his life and it was homesteaded in 1886 by the Schafers.

He graduated from Garden City High School in 1954 and attended Howard College and Texas Tech University.

He had served as a police officer in Midland.

He began working for Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Big Spring in 1963 and worked in a number of capacities before retiring in April 2000. During the time he was a “coke man”, he met and befriended people from every walk of life.

Marion was always involved in agriculture and raised cattle on his ranch. He loved his land and enjoyed spending time outside with his cattle, horses, goats, and guns.

Carter is survived by his wife, Nelda; one daughter, Lois Pearl McDaniel (Steve) of Big Spring; one granddaughter, Mary-Ashley McDaniel of San Angelo; two step-daughters, Toni Moore (Eddy) of Flower Mound, Nikki Lewis (Darrell) of Baird, and step-son Dennie Tidwell of Bowling Green, KY; four step-grandsons, Darek Tidwell of KY, Scotty Moore of Flower Mound, Michael Lewis (Jenna) of Corinth, Rikky Moore of Sammamish, WA; three step-granddaughters, Kelli Malone (Tim) of Lewisville, Chelsi Runyun (Landon) of Lewisville, Kayme McIntosh (Rusty) of Carrollton; and 6 step-great grandchildren, a brother, Joe Carter of Snyder, and a sister, Ann Carter.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Moore, Keith Burnett, Guy Newell, Richard Schafer, Jerry Schafer, and Hugh Schafer.

Honorary Pallbearers are Ralph Schafer, Marck Schafer, Desi Hernandez, Mike Douglas, and Dr. David Long.

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn., Dec. 14.-- Mrs. Hester Bradley Culver, 81, a beloved Elizabethton woman, died at her home on Broad st., here this afternoon.

Surviving is one son, Charles Bradley, a railroad engineer at Appalachia, Va.

Funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. and interment will follow in Bradley cemetery.

     Maude Katherine Carter was born on 24 January 1902 at Texas. She was the daughter of Joseph George Carter Sr. and Lillian Marks. Maude Katherine Carter married Benjamin Myers Shafer, son of Johann Christian Schaefer and Susannah Myers. Maude Katherine Carter died on 30 May 1969 at Big Spring, Howard Co., TX, at age 67.      Minerva Carter was born circa 1832 at Indiana.¹ She married George Bowers circa 1849.¹

     Nancy Carter was born circa 1864 at Greene Co., TN.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Carter and Maria (?)² Nancy Carter married John A. Rankin, son of Charles Gray Rankin and Louisa DaVault, circa 1880 at Greene Co., TN.¹

     Nathan Carter married Martha Hodson.

     Norval Carter was born on 1 March 1901 at Center Twp., Noble Co., OH. He was the son of Hayes Carter and Deborah Jane Bates. Norval Carter married Dessie Clapper, daughter of Elmer Peter Clapper and Dulcie Dessie Dicks, in 1931 at Brooke Co., WV, no children. Norval Carter died on 30 January 1981 at Noble Co., OH, at age 79. He was buried in February 1981 at Fredericksdale Cemetery, Fredericksdale, Noble Co., OH, Findagrave #37127646.

     Peggy Lou Carter was born on 13 April 1937 at Winnebago Co. (probably), IL. She was the daughter of Allen Manis Carter and Lydia Elizabeth Kinkead. Peggy Lou Carter married Samuel Edward Mitchell, son of Boyce Dawalt Mitchell and Thelma L. Ritchison, on 1 February 1959 at Salem, Washington Co., IN, Sam and Peggy had seven children. Peggy Lou Carter died on 10 October 2005 at age 68. She was buried in October 2005 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Geneva, Geneva Co., AL.

     Rae Carter was born on 18 November 1902 at Richibucto Par., New Brunswick, Canada.¹ She married Carl Carlson Salander. Rae Carter married Jerry S. Baker on 16 July 1960 at King Co., WA. Rae Carter died on 7 August 1996 at Irvine, Orange Co., CA, at age 93.

     Rhoda Carter was born in November 1859 at Indiana.¹ She married Frank Tallman, son of Benjamin Tallman and Nollie Ann Carroll, circa 1883, Six children born, all living as of 1900 census.¹

     Richard Carter was born on 5 June 1919. He was the son of Herb Carter and Martha Faye Triem.

     Richard Gerard Carter was born on 1 March 1920. He married Lela Ann Cornelius, daughter of Robert Henry Cornelius and Anna J. Boyd, in February 1945. Richard Gerard Carter died on 3 May 1979 at age 59.

     Robbie Lee Carter was born on 20 March 1940 at Houston, Harris Co., TX. She was the daughter of Earl Robert Lee Carter and Eva Dessie Mae Munsinger. Robbie Lee Carter lived between 1985 and 1995 at Houston, Harris Co., TX. She lived in 1996 at Cleveland, Liberty Co., TX. She died on 21 June 1997 at Liberty Co., TX, at age 57. She was buried in June 1997 at Brookside Memorial Park, Houston, Harris Co., TX, Findagrave #92810339.

     Robert Carter was born in May 1923. He was the son of Herb Carter and Martha Faye Triem.

     Russell Lide Carter was born on 13 November 1950 at Reno, Washoe Co., NV. He was the son of Joseph George Carter Jr. and Wilber Mae Frizzell. Russell Lide Carter died on 25 November 1984 at Denver, CO, at age 34.

     Samuel Carter married Eliza Ann Starr, daughter of Henry C. Starr and Sarah Ann Lewis, on 22 December 1851 at Pike Co., OH.

     Samuel Carter married Elizabeth Ann Starr, daughter of Samuel Starr and Elizabeth Stump, on 6 May 1819 at Camp Creek Twp., Pike Co., OH.
