John R. Coffee, 75, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000 in Amarillo.

He was born May 16, 1925 in Quail to William R. and Vera I. White Coffee. He attended school at Quail and served a short time in the U.S. Navy.

John and Sue Nelson were married February 9, 1947 in Wellington.

He was a farmer and rancher, member of the Church of Christ, charter member of the Wellington Lions Club where he held various offices including Tail Twister, and also a member of the Wellington County Club. He received the Honorary Future Farmer Degree from the FFA, served on the Board of Directors of the Collingsworth County Farm Bureau and was a former Little League coach.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; three daughters and their spouses, Susan and Dee Green of Childress, Linda and Dickie Johnson of Wellington, and Kay and Steve Williams of Waco; one son and daughter-in-law, Samuel John Coffee and Kenda of Pampa; four sisters, Judy Manuel of Wellington, Bertha Stiles of Omaha, NE and Allie Minyard of Lubbock and Della Mae Estes of Irving and nine grandchildren, Matthew and Eric Green, Brandon and Brent Coffee, Lucas, Chelsea and Ethan Johnson and Garrett and Grant Williams.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

He was buried in July 2000 at North Fairview Cemetery, Wellington, Collingsworth Co., TX, Findagrave #91107420.

Judy Cofee Manuel, Collingsworth County native and life long resident of the county, died in Wellington Monday, Monday March 1, 2003 at the age of 84. Born September 14, 1918 in Quail, she married Marvin Manuel in 1939 in Collingsworth County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wellington Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, April 22, 1988 and by a son Jerry Manuel, December 29, 1998.
Survivors include three , sisters, Allie Minyard of Lubbock, Dalla Mae Estes of Irving and Bertha Stiles of Indiana, two grandchildren, Marty Manuel of Lubbock and Casey Jordan of Wichita Falls and two great grandchildren, Zachary Miles Jordan and Zole Madison Jordan of Wichita Falls.

Mary Ruth Witherspoon, born November 9, 1915 in Quail, died June 24, 1994 at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Nursing Home in Ennis, TX.

She was the first daughter and the second child of W. R. and Vera White Coffee. She was a member of Quail Church of Christ and was a graduate of Quail High School.

On December 14, 1946, she married Vernon Howard Witherspoon in Dallas. After moving to Bristol in 1955, she was a long time member of Bristol Church of Christ. Her husband preceded her in death in January 20, 1987.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ben Coffee of Pampa and Cardell Coffee of Farmer's Branch.

Survivors include two sons: W. Tom Witherspoon of Richardson and Vernon L. Witherspoon of Desoto; two grandsons, Kyle Witherspoon and Stephen Witherspoon; two granddaughters, Mary-Jac Witherspoon and Amy Witherspoon;

Four sisters, Allie Minyard of Lubbock; Judy Manual of Wellington; Bertha Stiles of LaMesa, CA and Della Estes of Irving; one brother, John Coffee of Wellington and many nieces and nephews.

She was buried in June 1994 at Bristol Cemetery, Bristol, Ellis Co., TX, Findagrave #45314189.

Alger Lee Coffelt, 83, of Edinburg, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Winchester Medical Center.

He was born November 5, 1932 in Woodstock, Virginia, and was the son of the late Joseph Melvin and Goldie Windle Coffelt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Brett Allen Cooper.

Mr. Coffelt was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Korea.

He was a farm manager most of his life. He raised Angus cattle and thousands of turkeys during his career.

In his younger days, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his retirement years he loved to go camping with his family and friends.

Mr. Coffelt is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Baker Coffelt; three daughters, Jane Ryman (Dwayne) of Edinburg, Joan Fletcher (Robert) of Edinburg and Julie Cooper (Butch) of Woodstock; six grandchildren, Dawn deCourcy, Matthew deCourcy (Stephanie), Jarrett Cooper (Nicole), Jordan Cooper, Skyler Fletcher (Ashleigh) and Jennifer Wiatrowski (David); and five great-grandchildren.

He was buried in May 2016 at Cedarwood Cemetery, Edinburg, Shenandoah Co., VA, Findagrave #45137367.
