Boyd Wylie, Md., Dean of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, "You are correct in your assumption that Dr. Jacob Coblentz was graduated by the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1819." Refer to William's History of Frederick County, Md., page 587: Jacob Coblentz, born Middletown, Md., March 17, 1795, M.D., University of Maryland, 1819, practiced at Middletown 1819-38. Deacon and Ruling Elder in the Reformed Church. His health breaking down he removed, in the fall of 1838, to Dayton, Ohio, where he engaged in drug business. Died in Dayton, Ohio, February 15, 1861." Again on page 464 see: "In the fall of 1829, Peter Coblentz and his son, Dr. Jacob Coblentz, visited Cavetown and urged Rev. Bucher to come to the rescue of the Middletown Congregation. . . ." Bunker Hill, Dec. 19. - (Tribune Special) - Mrs. Mary Simmons, age 75, died at 2
p.m. Friday at her home, six miles southwest of Peru, after being ill for
several years with heart ailment.

She was born July 2, 1861 in Pipe Creek township, Miami county, and was reared
there, the daughter of Joshua and Elizabeth Coblentz, She married William Stoner
on March 20, 1881. Four children were born to them. Mr. Stoner died July 25,
1888 and later married George Simmons who died Dec. 16, 1915.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dora Metzgar of near Peru and Misses
Mary and Edna Stoner. Her son Marvin Stoner, died in 1932. There are four
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She leaves also two half-brothers,
William and Isaac Coblentz, living in the same community with her and a
step-sister, Mrs. Dora York of Indianapolis.

She was a member of the Dunkard Brethrens church. Funeral services will be held
at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren, west of Nead, with
the Rev. Thomas Shively in charge. Burial will be in the Metzgar cemetery. Mrs.
Simmons had expressed a wish that flowers by obitted at her funeral, which
request will be respected.

She was born on 2 February 1860 at Strasburg, Shenandoah Co., VA.1 She was the daughter of Joseph Coby and Sarah Catherine Wendel.1 Mary Alice Coby married Ralph Sherman Palmer, son of Charles S. Palmer and Louise Pittenger, on 14 April 1881 at Seneca Co., OH, 1900 census erroneously shows eight children born to the marriage, seven living as of the 1900 census. The "7" was marked over to show "8", which was correct -- the total number of children born as of that date was nine, with Ethel having died in 1884, and Pansy was omitted from the list of children -- thus the confusion. DLB 2017.2 Mary Alice Coby lived on 26 June 1900 at Eden Twp., Seneca Co., OH.2 She died on 9 March 1930 at Tiffin, Seneca Co., OH, at age 70. Former Brookfield resident Harold L. Cochran, 83, Columbia, died Monday, Dec. 13, at University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia.

He was an owner-salesman of industrial chemicals for Noramtech (North American Chemical Company).

Mr. Cochran was born Oct 24, 1910, in Monett, son of Harry A. and Vivian (Almegourd) Cochran.

He and Eleanor N. Williams were married Aug. 29, 1936, at Ft. Smith, Ark. She survives, of Columbia.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia, with the Rev. Rick Frost officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

He was a member of Broadway Christian Church, Columbia, and the Masonic Lodge of Brookfield.

He served in the Army in the south Atlantic, in World War II.

Also surviving are a son, Richard L. Cochran, Toledo, Ohio; two daughters, Carolyn Best, Ellisville, and Cathleen Hutchinson, Princeton, Texas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.
