MRS. ALICE COST HOWE

Mrs. Alice Cost Howe, 79, of 240 Rodes avenue, widow of Robert J. Howe, died at 7 o'clock today at the Good Samaritan hospital after an illness of five weeks.

A resident of Lexington for the past 10 years, Mrs. Howe was born in Cincinnati, a daughter of the late Richard H. and Sarah Eva Arnet Cost. Her education, which was received in Cincinnati, included musical training and she was the organist for the First Methodist church of Carrollton for 10 years before coming to Lexington. She was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church.

Mrs. Howe is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. L. Salyers and Miss Leonora Howe, both of Lexington: two brothers, Morris E. and Richard H. Cost, Cincinnati, four grandchildren, Robert K., James, Mary Alice and David H. Salyers, all of Lexington, and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will take place at Carrollton, Ky., at a time to be announced later. The body was removed to the W. R. Milward mortuary.

She was buried in April 1939 at Carrollton I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Carrollton, Carroll Co., KY, Findagrave #31550891.

     Alice Celesta Cost was born on 22 January 1857 at Pike Twp., Clark Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of John William Cost and Catherine Rinker.¹ Alice Celesta Cost married Bradley Irvin Stottlemyer, son of Daniel Stottlemyer and Mary Ann Catharine Foltz, before 10 June 1880, Seven children born, six living as of 1900 census. Five living as of 1910 census -- John D. appears to have died before April, 1910.³ Alice Celesta Cost lived on 10 June 1880 at North Hampton, Clark Co., OH.⁴ She lived in June 1900 at Addison Precinct, Champaign Co., OH.³ She died on 21 October 1930 at St. Paris, Champaign Co., OH, at age 73.

     Alvina Jane Cost was born circa 1846 at Pike Twp., Clark Co., OH.² She was the daughter of George Cost and Drucilla Clayton.²

     Anna Kathryn Cost was born on 17 May 1903 at Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., OH. She was the daughter of George C. Cost and Mary Grace Paden. Anna Kathryn Cost married James Russell Brandle in 1922.
