Elmer Alfred Doty1

     Elmer Alfred Doty was born on 25 February 1912 at Hooper Twp., Whitman Co., WA.1 He was the son of Arthur Edward Doty and Ida May Mauck.1 Elmer Alfred Doty married Vivian Estelle Garber, daughter of Robert Franklin Garber and Mary Susan Miller, on 4 August 1934. Elmer Alfred Doty died on 22 August 1996 at Lynnwood, Snohomish Co., WA, at age 84 OBIT (from findagrave.com):

Elmer was the youngest son of Ida and Arthur Doty. He graduated with a degree in Education from Eastern Washington College of Education and taught school from 1934-1943 in Rosalia and Centralia, Washington. During World War II, he served as a Marine Electrician. At the close of the war, in 1947, Elmer and Vivian founded the Artcraft/Hallmark stores of Seattle and Everett where they continued to work for 40 years until Elmer retired in 1984/85. Elmer was a charter member of the Edmonds Christian Church and elected Elder Emeritus. After 1976 Elmer and Vivian traveled extensively in the U.S., Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Holy Lands. A self-taught photographer, he photographed his travels and frequently gave lectures at schools, nursing homes and church gatherings. In 1994, the Dotys celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Elmer died from complications of Parkinson's Disease. He was survived by his wife, his four children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren, and at least 11 great-grandchildren.

He was buried in August 1996 at Latah Cemetery, Latah, Snohomish Co., WA.
