L. Wayne Curry

COLFAX (PNS) -- L. Wayne Curry, 53, died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday at Brokaw Hospital, Normal. He had been ill.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Colfax United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dorotha Russell officiating. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax and an hour before the service at the church.

He was born July 31, 1927, at Colfax, a son of Norris and Bertha Hess Curry. He married Maribel Camp Oct. 26, 1947, at Bloomington. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Paula Keith, Wiesbaden, Germany; Laura Culbertson, Hilltop Mobile Home Court, Bloomington; and Tamara Peifer, R.R. 3, Bloomington; his mother, Fairbury; a sister, Eileen Harris, Fairbury; and a grand-daughter.

His father preceded him in death.

Mr. Curry was a self-employed heavy equipment contractor for 15 years and a milk carrier for 17 years. He also was Martin Township road commissioner for 18 years.

He was a lifetime Colfax resident and a member of the Davis Kerber American Legion Post.

Memorials may be made to Colfax United Methodist Church, the Cancer Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice.

He was buried in April 1981 at Wiley Cemetery, Colfax, McLean Co., IL, Findagrave #32899978.

Services for Norma Jeanne Curry of Elsberry were held at 2PM Tuesday in Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, Elsberry. The Rev. Terry Gallamore officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery.

Miss Curry, 57, died Dec. 23, 1988, in Lincoln Co. Memorial Hospital, Troy. Born May 4, 1931, in Prophetstown, Ill., she was the daughter of the late James Albert Curry,Sr., and Irene Althea Bull Curry. Miss Curry was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Local No. 494, Elsberry, and worked at Ron Herren Corp. in Elsberry.

Survivors include one sister, Lelia Curry of Bowling Green; one brother, James Albert Curry, Jr. of Lincoln, Ill; grandmother, Mrs. Betty Bull of Sterling, Ill., and a special friend, Jewell Crump of Elsberry.

Paula Curry Keith, age 36 of Rantoul and formerly of Colfax, died at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 1989 at her home.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Colfax United Methodist Church, the Reverend Dan Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.

Also surviving are her mother of Bloomington; one daughter, Erin at home, two stepdaughters, Valorie and Amy Keith of Rockford; and two sisters, Laura Culbertson, Bloomington and Tamara Peifer of rural Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. Keith was a member of the and graduated from Eastern Illinois University in August 1988.

She was employed by Taylor Publishing in Dallas for nine years as a yearbook representative. She taught swimming and Red Cross/life guard training for several years.

Cause of death: cancer. She was buried in December 1989 at Wiley Cemetery, Colfax, McLean Co., IL, Findagrave #14883554.

Robert Warren Curry was b.23 Oct 1933 in Prophetstown, Ill. He moved to Rockford, Ill in 1958, where he worked as a carpenter and handyman. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of Liberty in the Spirit Church.

Robert married Susan M. Davis on 17 Aug 1991. They had 6 sons and 4 daughters. Robert died 18 Mar 2016 in Rockford, Ill., age 82.

Sylvester Norris Curry1

     Sylvester Norris Curry was born on 14 January 1861 at Bond Twp., Lawrence Co., IL.1 He was the son of George William Curry and Maria Sarah Irwin.1 Sylvester Norris Curry married Mary Elizabeth Riddle, daughter of William R. Riddle and Mary Stine, on 27 April 1884 at McLean Co., IL, Five children born, four living as of the 1900 census. A George Curry, dates unknown, is also buried at Frankeberger Cemetery -- he may have been the child lost in infancy.2 Sylvester Norris Curry lived on 9 June 1900 at Arrowsmith Twp., McLean Co., IL.2 He died on 28 July 1946 at Bloomington, McLean Co., IL, at age 85

Sylvester N. Curry

ELLSWORTH. -- Sylvester N. Cuyrr (sic), 85, died at 6:05 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's hospital. The body was taken to the Beck Memorial home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist church in Ellsworth. Interment will be in Frankeberger cemetery.

He was born Jan. 14, 1861, the son of George W. and Mariah Irwin Curry. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Riddle April 27, 1884. She died in 1904. He served for many years as highway commissioner of Arrowsmith Township and was a member of the Sangamon school board.

Surviving are three sons, Clifton, Jefferson, Ia; Clyde C. and Norris, Colfax; two daughters, Mrs. Gussie Brown, of California and Mrs. Harry Marquardt, 1107 Fell avenue, Bloomington, with whom he made his home; one brother, John R. Curry, Boone, Ia; one sister, Mrs. Arthur McCullom, Grand Junction, Ia; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. One daughter preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Ellsworth Methodist church and of the IOOF lodge.

He was buried in 1946 at Frankeberger Cemetery, Ellsworth, McLean Co., IL, Findagrave #9523169.

     Taylor Rigg Curry was born on 25 May 1899 at Ellsworth, McLean Co., IL.2,1 He was the son of James Albert Curry and Emma Isadora Rigg.1 Taylor Rigg Curry married Charlotte Marcella Lindberg, daughter of Luther Edwin Lindberg and Grace Whitcomb, on 21 January 1922 at Davenport, Scott Co., IA. Taylor Rigg Curry lived on 9 April 1940 at Prophetstown, Whiteside Co., IL, Concrete finisher.3 He died on 19 July 1976 at Prophets Riverview Center, Prophetstown, Whiteside Co., IL, at age 77. Cause of death: cerebral apoplexy, hypertension, and nephritis. He was buried in July 1976 at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown, Whiteside Co., IL, Findagrave #133712339.

     Thresia Ione Curry was born on 12 August 1912 at Ogden, Boone Co., IA.1 She was the daughter of George William Curry Jr. and Laura Bertha Thompson.1 Thresia Ione Curry married Robert Collins West, son of Edward P. West and Jeanette Gregory, on 14 November 1942 at the First Methodist Church, Des Moines, Polk Co., IA, Robert was first married to Clessie Counts in 1928 at Oklahoma City, and they had two sons, Robert and Richard. She died in 1941. Thresia and Robert had two sons, name of second child unknown. Thresia Ione Curry lived in 1994 at Richardson, Dallas Co., TX. She died on 14 January 1999 at Dallas Co. (probably), TX, at age 86 per SSDI, last residence Richardson. She was buried in January 1999 at Glenwood Cemetery, Ogden, Boone Co., IA, Findagrave #22967596.

     Violet Marie Curry was born on 30 January 1921 at Greene Co. (probably), IA.1 She was the daughter of Clifton Clay Curry and Ila May Hall.1 Violet Marie Curry married Harold R. Jenkins before 10 May 1940.2 Violet Marie Curry died on 11 June 1993 at Pioneer, Amador Co., CA, at age 72.
