Dr. Robert Rodgers was born on 24 September 1807 in Hopewell Twp., Cumberland Co., PA.1 He married Effie Harrison, daughter of John Harrison and Frances, on 10 April 1833. Dr. Robert Rodgers died on 14 February 1880 in Springfield, Clark Co., OH.


Note:

Studied medicine with Dr. Rankin of Shippensburg. After graduating, practiced 1828 - 29 at New Hope, Bucks Co., PA then relocated to Cumberland Co. and was associated with Dr. Geddes at Newville. In 1832 accepted a partnership with Dr. G. S. B. Hempstead at Portsmouth, Scioto Co., OH and remained there until 1833 when he returned to Pennsylvania and married. In 1833 he relocated to Springfield, OH. Was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church. Joined newly formed Second Presbyterian Church as trustee and deacon. Retired from medicine in 1870. In 1875 a slight paralysis was the beginning stage of a progressive disease that resulted in his death.

Biography

Isaac Ward was born on 2 October 1796 in Near Portsmouth, Scioto Co., OH. He married Mary Rodgers, daughter of James Rodgers and Jennet Quigley, on 1 April 1823. Isaac Ward died on 3 April 1863 in Springfield, Clark Co., OH.


Note:

The second son of his parents, William Ward drowned while crossing the Ohio River in a small boat. Polly's brother John Harrison came from Dauphin Co., PA to bring his sister and her children back to Pennsylvania on horseback. Isaac Ward settled near Newburg (near the Rodgers' home), married and became engaged in the woolen manufacturing business. Isaac relocated to Springfield, Ohio with wife and child and the Rodgers family in 1833. There he owned a farm and opened a stone quarry which his grandson Isaac Frey Ward now (1905) owns. Was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, then became charter member of the Second Presbyterian Church.
