crushed to death by an unmanageable bull.

Rev. D. D. Green, in his funeral address, said of Mr. Price: "As a man he was honest, upright, truthful, brave, deliberate, enterprising, kind, and courteous. As a neighbor he wad frank, candid, and obliging. To the poor, he always showed a liberal hand. As a friend, he was true. As a father, he was indulgent, ruling his household in love. As a husband, he was pure, tender, affectionate. To all, a Christian gentleman."¹

Joseph Detweiler Price was When about sixteen he made a public confession of Christ and united with the Coventry Church of the Brethren.¹ He began military service in 1862 Enlisted, private, Co. H., 15th Regt. Pa. Vols., prom. to 2nd Lt. Co. I, 70th Regt., 6th Penna. Cavalry, Jan. 1, 1865; prom. to 1st. Lt. Co. F, same Regt., March 22, 1865; disc. June 20, 1865. After the war settled in Doniphan Co., Kans.¹

Hannah Jackson was born on 14 February 1842 in Kennett Square, Chester Co., PA. She married Joseph Detweiler Price, son of Rev. John R. Price and Catherine Detweiler, on 29 November 1864 in Chester Co., PA.¹ Hannah Jackson died on 2 July 1915 Mrs. Price was a student of Eton Academy, Kennett Square. Soon after graduating she volunteered her services for the instruction of colored children of Kennett Square and taught them successfully for three years. Afterwards she taught in the grammar school. She married Mr. Price while he was serving his country during the Civil War. After his death, she left Kansas with her four small children and took up her residence in her native village, Kennett Square, where she taught school for some time and then began the study of medicine, entering the Woman's Medical College, Phila. in 1878 and graduating therefrom in 1881. Immediately thereafter became asst. physician at the Woman's Hospital. In 1882 she removed to Chester, Pa., where she built up an excellent practice; became a member of the First Baptist Church. A few years before her death she gave up her practice and for some time was engaged in social work in New York City for which she was well fitted.²
